This is a masterclass in how to be a PRO front person; -She signals to the tech that her right ear monitor goes out @ 0:45. She then vamps w the crowd assuming/hoping it’ll get fixed, then has a moment when she sees the crowd singing HER song back to her. It’s awesome Around the 2:00 mark she’s lost probably both in ear monitors and is operating off pure vocal talent and practice. The band responds by cutting off after the chorus reprisal after seeing her do the “cut off” motion and pointing to the crowd. I’m a bassist, and if my front person did that shit, I’d know to just…trust his/her charisma and cut my shit off and force a chorus bridge or something, cos it’s clearly fucking things up for him/her. She, the band, and the crowd are all fantastic. Band, tech, everyone are all in sync despite the tech failure. Her going with the crowd is such a pro move. LOVE this vid.

@phishphan4911 ай бұрын
There have been interviews with band members before about this song & iirc this specific performance - my comment is anecdotal because fuck if I remember where... You are 100% correct in your time stamps - you missed a big one tho 1:04 or so tho -when the drummer pulls out his IEM's visibly gesticulations to the techs "I can't hear a goddamn thing - if you run it back a few times it's like a few seconds at most but it's almost funny that the keeper of time on the song visibly... Not gives up... he does a marvelous job as do all of the band members. But from the his brief gesticulations it's *super* clear he's trying to convey "I can't hear a fucking thing rn". The crowd sings dancing on my own is far from a new or rare thing - but on this occasion - the crowd was just preposterously large and loud. The reply that says they flooded out all monitor sound is dead on accurate. Watch the drummer 1 min in... The lights go on the music dies... (crowd takes over) IM IN THE CORNER... monitor audio is rendered useless This group was just too fuckin loud Robyn isn't new to this gimmick with this song, but she's visibly overwhelmed at the ~1min mark as well - the laugh at "what the actual fuck?"... Can't even imagine what that *feels* like... I mean that's an amount of loud that you remember for life. You feel it in your bones. Couldn't agree more about the recovery/robyn's professionalism tho - after giving the crowd almost a minute of the song being stopped to cheer the first chorus. There's 2:05 where she's indicating "still can't hear fuck all". Camera cuts to a pan of the audience. She leads the band to come back in off an acapella tent pole line of the song around 2:10. Who knows why she kept the IEM's in the whole time - my guess is that outfit didn't have a great pocket situation . The accent percussion never comes back after the minute mark - around 1:50 you can see her astonishment at the level of energy. This... Totally agree it's a masterclass of a performance. It's also lightning in a bottle imo. You don't see shit like this often. This is special. She's so overwhelmed her voice breaks at 2:43... Once into final chorus breakdown it's cut everything pls & she just echos the crowd. Who - at this point are louder than the festival audio. I love this performance - the only thing that even comes close I've ever heard is the also 2019 charli xcx show at Union transfer philly. The crowd of that is bananas. They do the whole ass set - if curious check out the vroom vroom or Track 10 / Blame It on Your Love from that charli has to adjust on the fly as like - the whole ass set the crowd is legit louder than the venue's audio - you can't hear charli at all on vroom vroom. It's bonkers.
