I just had an evil idea for a drift day car ! I've got a twisted sense of humour when it comes to "Sleeper" cars and always wanted to build an externally stock looking Mk5 Transit, But with something like a GM LS6 mounted in the back and running to a less agricultural independent rear suspension setup. For full effect it would also have to have a tow bar fitted, So you can turn up at the drag strip towing a car trailer with a mate's drag car on it. Imagine the smirking when you say "This looks like a bit of a laugh. Am I allowed to take my van down the strip?" . :D Anyway, Covert drift toy idea...... Stripped out (But standard looking) 940 turbo ESTATE, Tweaked 2JZ under the bonnet. W58 gearbox behind that....... And a roof rack with as many empty old suitcases as you can glue together and strap down onto it ! If you can find a life sized toy Labrador and have it's head sticking out of one of the rear windows, All the better ! LOL ! Put your company name along the rear quarter panels of the car and you'll DEFINITELY get free advertising from all your track day trips because everyone there who's filming videos of their mates car going sideways for uploading to KZbin will also want to film and upload footage of your loaded up Volvo shredding tires ! :D

You can get from stock turbo 180 hp. Change cam (vx3 or ipd turbo cam), better exhaust and 0.8 bar boost. And you should install cold air intake. Edit. So your going to bigger turbo be just sure that it doesn't lean out either bigger injectors or chip

When you come to do the manual conversion make sure you mark where the marks on the flywheel are. as you can bolt up the flywheel in any position and throw out the timing and it won’t start or if your only 1 bolt out it will have a weird misfire as I’ve found out the hard way 🙈

Is this 601 Classic Red? If so, that it's exactly like mine, black fenders, black rims (but mine are 17" Arrakis from S80) and black mirrors. This color is very prone to getting bland from the sun, when I bought mine it looked like a tomato, so I named him "Tomato Dragon" :D But a day of hand polishing made it shine, and then after some time I gave it to the proffesional, machine polish + ceramic coating and this color looks gorgeous. I'm not going tu turn mine into drifter (I have another one for this xD), it looks good enough for pleasure cruising, but do whatever floats your boat with yours :) Fun fact: I have no turbo and a turbo grill, and your - exactly the opposite :)

Go with an m90 trans, don't use the diesel clutch as its trash and won't hold up to good boost. Splurge on a ttv flywheel and 850r clutch. So far it's taken the most abuse with the big turbo I run.
