Notes: This was played on an early access of the game where increasing your liberty desire was a lot harder. I believe that liberty desire was buffed because a lot of people with early access struggled to be able to get high enough for independence. I at some point in this video probably say that once you build your first construction center you have to pay for ALL the construction goods, even the free stuff. I have since discovered this is not the case and am very confused as to why I believed this (maybe it worked this way at some point?). SPOILER: This start does not end up being successful.

I also tried it today, and I don't think you should have bad relations with Austria, because to gain independence Austria needs to agree to increase your autonomy first, because there isn't a diplo play anymore, and if you have bad relations you will get a -50 debuff for bad relations and attitude for each one. Also, if you make Austria too angry, they will not only change your president, but also they will force a regime change and it will make you have revolts 24/7, because you won't be able to change your government for 5 years, and it will decrease your legitimacy until it will be below 25%.

while it is frustrating playing as Krakow wanting to be free, it is very nice to see AI Austria doing all it can to keep you under its thumb as long as it can.

Any time I see AI playing well and in-character, I'm impressed. Game AI seems to be the thing that's hardest to get "right" nowadays.

@@JB-xl2jc I think it's just that the only time you play against AI these days is in strategy games with lots of decision trees. When playing something like an FPS or Kingdom Come Deliverance it's more of just a reaction time upgrade, and aggression while trying to keep them beatable.

@@JB-xl2jc Gotcha, I think that's been the hang-up since conception. You get PVP that is essentially just exploiting the games features the best unless you have a gentleman's agreement. Then you have PVE that is a constant balancing of how to make them be good at the game without annoying exploits. That's why we've had the difficulty sliders just give them multipliers. It's hard to make them a smarter AI that can do more with less without making them play the most cheesy way consistently. SO many variables to take care of. If sam atlman can fix paradox AI I'm all in.

one thing to note abt getting independence is ideoligical differences doesnt mean your laws its purely based on your current igs in gov so you can check their igs and put the same ones

in 1.6 the only way that worked for me was building up, passing mass conscription and waiting for one of Austrias revolutions to deliver the strike. No country would support me ever, so had to do it solo. I'm surprised it's even possible to get support from other countries.

you got bonked by the je code: if you satisfy the win conditions of a journal event on the same day that it activates in your journal, it fails and goes away. annoying in krakow specifically, you often get in that situation trying to do the railroad slingshot at the start

You were very lucky in this run. I now am on 9th run and most of the times I either can't pass Racial Segregation due to parties or Austra regime changes me to 0 legitimacy monarchy

What do you mean lucky? He's unlucky as can be, he played on a patch that butchered liberty desire. I've had two great starts on the current patch, only had to restart when Austria got too good allies. Prussia will definitely help you, and radical France fires so often you can get them on your side too.

Did you already have all your mines on atmospheric engine when you finished building your first iron mine? The event won't fire if you fulfil all of the requirements at the exact moment that the event becomes "active", bizarrely this has been confirmed by Paradox as WAI. In the meantime as a workaround you can change to a worse PM just before finishing building a 3rd mine, then switch back one the JE is confirmed as active

It's probably just the version you played this on, but I went straight to interventionism and I got enough liberty desire to declare independence in 1940. Like I said it's probably just the version, but anyway I think going interventionism as a subject is almost always the play, especially as a small nation such as Krakow.

In Vicky2, forming PLC starting as Krakow was one of the more famous, fun, and challenging things a daring player could do. Happy to see the legend living on in Vicky3 now!

I had so much trouble generating independence desire as Australia. GB just kept buying buildings in my land. My only way out was to build the largest navy in the world to use the prestige leverage… i did end up needing the navy though because GB was not going to give me independence without an Australian, French and USA coalition invading the home counties.

I played this from the last patches and what happened to me all the time is that Austria changed my laws several times and set me back and I was unable to get free at all

Prussia is always weak in this build. I've played four runs-Japan, U.S., Qing, Italy-and not even the North German Confederation happened in one.

getting support shoud definitely increase liberty desire, or at least make the country that supports your independence likely to start a play for it

Played a non-reroll Krakow for the same end goal. Got UK to support me, had a very strong independent economy (Austria kept giving me control), and almost had Russia backing me, max liberty desire...then the worst of the worst happened--Prussia created super Germany of which I was now a puppet. Rerolling at 1880

Laissez-Fail is a shit, i have 10 bilions in investment, and +8 milion profit, i made 20k construction, to make them spend all the money, but they dont want to construct or buy my buldings, finally i can get to 1900, but now that i puppeted all the world, there is nothing to do, i cant construct efficient because the game lag for 2-5 minutes when i open the construction menu, and its only me or its harder to get to 27 sol? I am always playing Austria, and after 60 years i have minimum 25 sol and 200 mil pops.

Running a deficit as unrecognized will generally debt spiral you. Also gov ownership not on LF (and on LF because of a bug) deletes money, and deletes even more when you're in debt, which didn't happen before.

They are sold for several 10 thousands from the investment pool... don't know if you could restrict the nationality of the buyers...

Don't struggle unnecessarily, just start as Russia - release Lithuania as puppet and then release Poland as independent and play with Poland. You'll get 3 states and everything needed

Doesn't Interventionism also reinvest 50% of the government dividends into the investment fund? So you keep 50% for the budget, and 50% reinvestment for a total of 100% and thus no loss of money?

No, i think that split occurs before the dividend monney gets halved. So in reality, 50% goes to reinvestment, and then 50% goes to government dividends which gets halved (on intervension) again.
