Bro, just use a minimalist launcher and only keep non-addictive apps in the launcher. A good set up that I have used would be time, date, phone, texts, browser, mail, music, navigation, notepad, and camera. Each label just opens their respective apps. There are no logos, just words for each app. Use a non-distracting wallpaper for the home screen and lock screen. If it does not suffice inhibiting the addiction, then uninstall whatever your addicting app is. For me, doing this is sufficient. I leave the addicting apps installed and just open it extremely rarely with time limits put on each addicting app. The best part is that it requires no money to be spent.

I feel Android and IPhone just need to have a mode or model where you only have the basics and can’t install apps. Useful Things that dont suck time like flashlight or dual SIM can still be there. Maybe people can order their own customised versions on the internet. I’d buy that in a heartbeat

As someone who used dumb phones exclusively for 6 months, your theory sounds very accurate to my experience. I didn't understand just how tethered to my smartphone I was until I got nervous walking to the shop halfway down the street with a flip phone in my pocket. Huge wake-up call for me. After a few weeks I grew to love how long and boring my days were. Though I no longer use a traditional T9 dumb phone, I use a Jelly Star now which gives me the conveniences of a smartphone (like banking, QR, government digital documents) without the massive all consuming screen to go with it. The lessons learned from that time have been invaluable to me, and one day I hope to go back 😊

I feel Android has more options for creating a minimalist phone than iphones because launchers can be downloaded so easily. You should have bought a cheap Android phone from a reputable brand and just used a minimalist launcher. If you were the least bit tech savvy, I would say get an old Pixel phone, slap Graphene OS on it, and add a minimalist launcher to it.
