Okay, honestly. That guitar solo almost brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of those classic Japanese animes with absolutely mind-blowing rock guitar solos, like Hokuto no Ken. You outdo yourselves every time, Impact. Awesome job :)

My number one tip for solos is going to TACT and shortening the release time for the sustains and the mutes to give the notes more separation instead of them slightly bleeding into the following notes. Also, leaving a little gap after a note will add emphasis to the following note's pick attack sound for the same reason.

Thank you so much - this is the video that I've been wanting since Shreddage 3 was released! It's amazing to see you build up all the layers and explain how they work - the cleanness of computer playback can make a simulated guitar obvious and it's great to be shown how to make it "imperfect", to humanize and add subtleties to it - I've been feeling my way with the available options, and being shown how to apply them correctly is very valuable. My only comment: it would be great to see you setting up the automations and TACT setups, etc, that you describe in the video instead of just describing them, so we could see your entire process. Hope that there are more demonstrations of Shreddage 3 in the field to come :)

Can you please explain the pitch bend for me? I've been using the wheel on my keyboard for bends, but the results haven't been very convincing. It looks like you triggered a bend sample. The controller lane jumped from 0-127 instantly, but the bend applied naturally.
@ImpactSoundworksLLC
@ImpactSoundworksLLC 3 жыл бұрын
There are no bend up/down samples, so this really is just the pitch wheel/bend controller being used. There's a short interpolation time in Kontakt that smooths/extends things, though.

This is super good to Knowledge. I've been messing around with a lot of third-party amp sims, to differ my tone, but I'm running into issues where certain frequencies just seem overly harsh to me. I think that's an amp thing, as I don't hear that when the guitars are played without any amps on them, but it's nice to hear this with Archetype Nolly. I'm curious though: if I were to use a third-party amp sim, what's the best way to double-track these guitars? I know you can go up to quad-track in the instrument itself, but I haven't had much luck getting those tracks to not play in mono (this seems to happen in Guitar Rig, from my experience). Any suggestions on how to achieving this?
@Tremendouz
@Tremendouz 3 жыл бұрын
A lot of amp sims, including guitar rig, have a stereo mode. In guitar rig 5 you can click the L/R buttons somewhere near the top of the UI to make it accept stereo. Then you can just feed the double or quad tracked signal from shreddage into one instance of guitar rig
@ImpactSoundworksLLC
@ImpactSoundworksLLC 3 жыл бұрын
Many amp sims have options to allow mono OR L/R input. Guitar Rig, for example, has this option at the top (only L is enabled by default). With Guitar Rig specifically, you also need to make sure any components in the preset are set to "Stereo" mode.
@danielcairney3009
@danielcairney3009 3 жыл бұрын
I've had the same problem with Realguitar. You can carve out the harshness using a dynamic EQ or Fab filter or try THU or Bias amp. Somewhere around 3000 HZ -Widen or narrow the frequencies on cutting and boost them back on the sim.{Lower treble and higher tone settings) Chorus helps some too.

Is Midi Guitar Mode in Shreddage also meant to accurately replicate string/fret selection? Because in my experience with Legacy, Midi Guitar Mode does not respect any legato articulation.
