Using Action Camera as Webcam to Stream on Twitch

You can use any cheap budget no brand china made action camera or sport camera to be used as a webcam to stream on twitch, facebook live or even youtube gaming or youtube live. The once we are using is the FREERIDERS PROBOARDER 4K CAMERA SPORTIVE, that is one hack of a name.

Hi Gordon first of all thanks for the good video. I want to know about the resolution quality - is this kind of camera better than a Logitech c920/930? I don't want to spend 90 bucks for now, and a action cam looks like a good option for me. Ah, and now I'm using a Logitech c270 (720p). Do you think that the upgrade worth it? Douglas Stewart The action camera can't remove the background. The only webcam that can remove the background is the Logitech c922, but i don't reccomend you to buy the c922 because t isn't the best optoin.

@@DJJohnnyTapia I ended up getting the Akaso Pro v50. Very similar. Guy in video is right, they're all pretty much the same. It did work just fine. With good lighting, I'd say better video quality than a webcam, but you really have to point at light at you. These things don't have the infrared light built-in to them like webcams do, which let's webcams look good even in low light. That was the only downside for me.

Did you just plug the camera into the hdmi port on the pc, or did you connect it to some type of capture device first? You did not show were you connected it too..

Hello Gordon - hope you still monitor this channel. I have been searching for a solution to a project I have and this video may provide the answer - here's what's going on at my end: I am trying to incorporate a front view (add-on) camera in my Toyota 4runner - this will allow a visual display of the area immediately in front of the vehicle, which is out of my line of site (this is helpful in some off-road scenarios). I have tried using a standard rear view camera with typical RCA connector but it will not interface with my new Samsung 8" tablet with USB-c connector. I worked around that using a RCA to USB-c adapter harness but the tablet will not recognize the USB device. However, if I swap the camera with a "webcam" it will detect that. So my question is if I use your method of live streaming above do you think that will work on my tablet? Thanks so much for whatever help you may be able to offer.

Dont open OBS 1st, u need to plug it in to your SJCAM 1st and then select PC camera and the the last step you open OBS

remove SD card from camera, connect camera to USB computer, open device manager in Windows, find iCatch Null in the device manager, right click, choose update drivers, select Browse... select Let me pick... select "USB Video Device" and DISconnect camera from usb and re-connect camera to USB. I have an Eken H9 (V4.0, firmware 20171210), and I did this and it works fine in Skype etc.

Hey, nice video, however i am having trouble doing this with my fdr x3000. i tried doing it the way Petesimon Tabibito suggested, with updating the drivers and reconnecting the camera to the USB, however while my pc does recognizes the device, it doesnt show up as video capture device. thanks in advance for your help :)

It should. Most action cams are the same. Just try it. On my 4k Akaso v50 pro, I had to turn on the cam first, then plug it in.

So I found out that the Akaso EK7000 doesn’t have that option. But the Akaso Brave 4 has the PC camera option and has the OSD (on screen display) option in the menu where you can remove the screen info to stream. So I sent my EK7000 and got the Brave 4 for 10/$20 more and it works perfect!

I hate when people do review on item specific things, and try to pass it off as working for everything. The camera you got, cheap or not, already has USB Passthrough capabilities. This does not work if you’re camera does not already come equip with this option.
