But did you know if you had the car connected to the Tesla app, you can summon the car meaning you can make the car drive to you, or you make the car park itself etc.

Hey Ryan, Great to see you and your family enjoyed renting the model X during your holiday. Regarding you saying in the video about getting the key fob. I’ve heard linking a key fob to a Tesla makes it easier for thieves to steal the vehicle. Mainly if the car is parked out in the open and if the key fob is in close proximity they can use something to amplify the signal to unlock the vehicle and then drive off without needing the fob. Though I haven’t yet heard of any cases of this happening in Australia, but it has happened in Norway. So I suggest doing a bit more research on the pros and cons with linking a key fob with a Tesla. Thanks for the comment mate ! So interesting, and devastating to see. Appreciate you letting me know. I also thought this was a problem with proximity to your phone, but maybe the key fob has been to blame for most of these type of thefts.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is the key fob uses a type of radio signal (which can be amplified and is always transmitting) whereas the phone key uses bluetooth (which is also a radio signal, but behaves a bit differently, has a shorter transmitting range and can disconnect if the phone goes into sleep/standby mode). I need to do more research myself. But I think the other contributing issue is people choosing to leave their vehicle parked out in the open, rather than keeping it secured in a garage or behind a gate. Understandably, not everyone is going to have a garage, but like any expensive investment securing it physically should be taken very seriously. Anyways keep up the good work and looking forward to the next video. 👍
