Using An Older Lens On A Nikon D40x

I like that lens. I have a D40X also, but on my camera I can meter through the lens (Nikkor 28-80) the aperture goes from f3.5 to f22. I can adjust the aperture via the ring on the lens and also via the LCD. When adjusting via the camera's processor, I can take it up to f32. The ISO goes from 100 to 1600 (and) HI 1, which is (I think) 3200. I used the HI 1 setting in a shady cemetery. Everything was somehow brighter. Very good. Everything else is manual; there is no auto-focus. At least I can set the focus to how I want it, and not have it searching (continuously) like my Fujifilm bridge camera. (I really hated that.) I shoot (mainly) in manual mode, using aperture and shutter priority occasionally. I need a 50mm prime lens! Good luck everybody.

I use a Nikon Ai 28mm 2.8 lens. I take a picture and look at the screen. Too dark open the aperture. To focus I use the little focus confirmation spot in the viewfinder.

My Nikkor Q 105 is getting mounted but does it change the f2.5 to a larger number?.

Do you know what other old lenses will work? Or do any old 35mm Lenses work with newer DSLR's?

I have a similar lens as you but I can't find the mounting index on the rear of the lens. So how would I align this lens to say a Nikon D800?

lowest ISO of d40x is 100. not 200.
