that scene looks so good! perhaps adding a parallax affect to the buildings in the gaps below the main walkway could help to make it feel more realistic and part of a greater system?

I wasn't convinced at first, as you seemed to be taking a very global approach to lighting, as opposed to the directional lighting of film, but the source lighting at the end really made it!

I admit that I normally do not comment on videos, and this is my first time in a long time. But the work you produce and the videos are always such high quality that I just want to show my support through a comment. I have been following your game for 2ish years now, and I have been excited for the game's release ever since. Seeing the quality of the art and videos increase over the years has made me so excited and interested for what you have coming next! Congratulations on getting your Alpha out!! I was looking forward to watching people play but unfortunately I haven't seen much content strangely (I wasn't able to donate for the alpha release). I just had one question though--do you still plan on releasing the full game in September? Since the alpha was pushed back a few months, I was wondering if the same would be said for the actual game. I would love for it to come out in September (that's my birthday!). Thank you so much for your work! I look forward to all future videos and updates you have for us :)

I love how you mentioned in the beginning that your earlier drawings lacked depth and were faded, and how you aim to incorporate the bold influence from movies into your artwork. However, your final scene in 10:12, the colors appear too faded and dull. compare the scene in 10:32 (that was perfect), In my opinion, it would be better to make the orange and red colors more prominent, similar to how they appear at 9:17. Additionally, I suggest removing the black lines from the background to achieve a simpler look, as you did with the bricks in front of it. You could also add a black layer on top and adjust the opacity until it looks optimal. Despite this, I find the scene overall very intriguing. If I may suggest, adding some smoke above the chimneys and around different tubes, as well as from the bottom, could enhance the scene further.
@PixelArchitect
@PixelArchitect Жыл бұрын
I actually ended up fading the whole drawing in the end, since I noticed the drawing was too saturated compared to the characters. The rest of the game is a similar saturation level so I didn't want to make it inconsistent (less saturated than Stardew valley, bit more saturated than Eastward). I'll probably add darker overlays around some areas and will use some lighting effects in Unity to balance everything out. And can definately add smoke once in Unity :)

A couple of questions: Where is the best place to buy / pre-order where you as the creator get the biggest cut? What pixel size ration did you use for characters? Hi! I know this might be a bit late in the process but I feel like there’s a bit of disconnect with the cover art and the game. Is it too late to change the name of the game? calling this chef rpg is like calling stardew valley farm rpg, I'm pretty sure it would have sold less if the developer named it that, its soo bland, why not name it after the town/city combined with like a myserious sub title referencing mysterious things or something

As some constructive criticism to the design of the scene, I feel like the archway on the right side looks like it doesn't make sense. Shouldn't it be connected to a larger structure there instead of a vertical line? Also, the vertical metal structure in the center, this one doesn't stand out as much because someone can imagine what might be the purpose of the beam, but just another thing I thought of. Anyways the color palette and look of the scene is great! just think maybe some design tweaks could make it look even better!

@PixelArchitect
@PixelArchitect Жыл бұрын
Thanks Joaquin! I personally haven't tried tilesets, but I know they are useful if you want to create some maps quickly or do procedural generation. For this game, the backgrounds are essentially uploaded into Unity as one big png. But you still need to figure out which images need to be sorted in the front, which ones are in the back, and which ones need to be dynamically sorted, and will need to seperate those sprites from each other. Unity allows you to assign images to different layers to determine which items are rendered first
