Unfortunately currently is a huge privacy risk to use the IDE, what they say they do is store prompts on their servers for some unknown time, which might include sensitive data. No clue how is the data stored and who has access to it. Just bear in mind that although this looks great it would take some time to polish and make it trusted by organization if that happens at all, until then it is a big no no even for personal projects.

Please please explain further, I'm interested. I am thinking about using this to assist me with coding Godot 4 language, and wanting to import the codebase and see how it works with Cursor. Weighing pros and cons,a nd this seems like a heavy con. I am especially concerned about ownership and copyright- could they claim something you made using it's coder?

I just looked briefly at their privacy page, they say this: TLDR If you enable "Privacy Mode" in Cursor's settings, none of your code will ever be stored by us or any third-party (except for OpenAI and Anthropic, which persist the prompts we send to them for 30 days for trust and safety. Business plan users' data will not be retained at all by OpenAI or Anthropic.) So with a buisness Plan you are OK? "none of your code".... ok but promps... I guess u are right there.

You're 100% correct especially considering that GPT can really only help you with the basics of programming. As your questions become more complicated and require larger context it just simply can't keep up. You're much better off just taking the time to learn the fundamentals yourself and then use tools like this to generate basic boilerplate code for you to speed up development time.

Nice video. Looks promising. Few questions we need to ask here 1. How many tokens will it take to do this single task? Is the ROI worth it? 2. Who will maintain the code once it is written/re written? 3. Who will review the code once it is written? 4. How much will it cost for the subscription or paid version of the tool? 5. Are business users techie enough to prompt, understand, review, maintain (CI/CD) of the applications? I doubt. What is sure to follow is developer productivity. It will improve by nX for sure.

Sorry but I think it's very naive thinking that by using this we will get rid of coding. In the end, that's an IDE for coding. It will help developers a lot, and we need this -- Developers usually take a lot of time to finish things and often startups can code an app for months if not years until releasing. Nice that we can step up and become better developers and also make this job be easier! But coding is not going away anytime soon
@funnyperson4016

It doesn’t get rid of the need for code, it just in combination with OpenAI-01/strawberry (and whatever comes next that is better), converts coding to English prompting instead. It makes coding way more accessible

@SimGunther
@SimGunther Жыл бұрын
Every one of these videos is like "Seeing this very small codebase being fixed by the AIs, we'll no longer have any coders! Viva le PMs!" Have you even tried to use this thing for a codebase with tens millions of lines of code? I know that it's somewhat capable of reading all that code, but to make tangible changes that aren't buggy is like saying we should also use autopilot for takeoff and landing: literally the two most unpredictable times when someone is flying a plane. Maybe AI makes small throwaway scripts easier to create, but you still need the solid programming foundation so you know when AI gives you good code and when it's not capable of solving your specific problem. I want you to actually use the tool in the Linux kernel or any web browser and see how far you'll get with AI fixing all the bugs and creating a better version of those codebases. The results may shock you.
