I download and installed. Every time I open it, it said "Scanning collections, please wait.... Scanning for removed albums" I left without checking how long it took for the scanning. What is the solution? Thanks.

You might go over to discuss.pixls.us and ask there. In general, the length of time to scan your albums has to do with the size of your albums as well as your computers speed.

I'm also just getting into digiKam, a time investment that seems to be worth it as the software gets more powerful with each version. I work with Linux and have since yesterday, in addition to the usual Flatpak installation (v.8.0) also an AppImage (v 8.0.1) running. I was amazed when I discovered in the AppImage (portable software version for Linux) of digiKam the so-called superfilter G'MIC, with which you can now do real magic in digiKam. Great! I wonder if G'MIC is also included in the regular version of 8.0.1. With best regards from Germany Mic 🙂

To my knowledge it is not. At least, I don't see it showing up in my installation in Windows 11. I would love to see a screenshot of how it is accessible via digiKam on a Linux machine. As always, thanks for the thoughtful questions.

@@FOSSeditsI haven't worked with Windows for almost five years now, because the increasing loss of control over this operating system has become unacceptable to me. Linux runs much more stable in comparison and also doesn't phone home. In addition, there is virtually no threat of viruses for Linux. I'm really happy to have left Windows and its countless problems behind me for good. Under Linux Mint, G'MIC (in the portable version 8.0.1) of digiKam can be found in the editor under the "Enhance" option, which enhances digiKam enormously, since you can do incredibly great things with G'MIC. G'MIC works flawlessly in digiKam and works very fast (on Linux). I am thrilled! If G'MIC is available in the regular version of digiKam 8.0.1 (as flatpak for Linux) I can't say yet, because my flatpak hasn't updated yet. But it will do this automatically in the next days. If you contact me, I will send you a screenshot of G'MIC in digiKam. Greetings from Germany Mic

Strangely enough, digiKam does not see GoPro raw files (.gpr) even though they are supported. Any suggestion on how to solve this issue? I am using version 8.4.0.

Well, although the list of supported files contain 'gpr', GoPro does not show in the list of supported cameras. It's unfortunate, and I will have to drop digiKam then :(

is it possible to make folders in harddrive with digikam . I mean if i want store photos and videos in a harddrive how to organize them
