Here is a statement that Denon Dj wrote to me today: Hi Danny - Yes, both the firmware in the MCX and the software are being enhanced currently. Our Engine Prime software is going to be the library tool for both Prime users and MCX users to create and organise their music libraries. Whilst there is no release date for the revisions currently, information and download links will be made available on the official Denon DJ forum and webpages for release.

Still rocking my MCX8000 as my main controller in 2021. This has been an awesome controller and have no reason to upgrade to prime 4 or Prime 2. I do consider adding the Prime go as a secondary and backup but I just dont find the need yet for it.

Last year I was Djing a party with my mcx and some drunk guy knocked over my external hard drive and unplugged it. It hit the concrete hard. Of course everyone blames the Dj if the music shuts off so right as they start to boo I flip into engine mode in seconds and kept the party going. I thankfully got my hard drive back up and running. It only suffered a small dent. From then on I've never done a gig without a back up. This is a real life saver!

Its cool if your doing like an two hours 80s set or two hour "one genre" set.. But its gonna be tricky if you're like me playing a 5-6 hour set of ALL genres having a library of over 20,000 tracks... Good video as always BTW..

Hi Phil, Is there a way to search for a track on this machine in stand alone mode IE like a plug in keyboard, we get asked for some obscure tracks......you can't remember them all!!

Have you tried testing different latency settings within the DJ software? Also closing down unnecessary apps and turning off wifi can help with this sometimes. Hope this helps! :-)

I downloaded engine but when I started it I was asked to re-format my hard drive as it is an ssd and my laptop is also ssd which means I cannot use it as I would lose my complete operating system and programs. There is no option during installation to use a different drive which means for me it is pretty useless.

Ok i need some help, I made a playlist like in the video and scanned it with prime and everything and my mcx8000 doesnt read it like it should, there is no filtering or anything its like i plugged it without using prime

HEEELP!!! anyone else been able to clear the denon engine music library? i downloaded a dvd from ebay with voice samples and it kept making engine crash. ive deleted all the files from my hard drive, deleted all memo data in engine but i can't delete the file names in engine. keeps saying 'database error' 😒 ive tried to uninstall engine and re install it but it seems to know where all the files are and they come back again 😓 argh!!!! please help!!?

Hey Danny, sorry to hear you're having issues with it. Engine is fairly new in the software game, though you might want to contact inMusic/Denon directly and see what solutions they may have :)

Digital DJ Tips That is, what they answered me. Maybe it is helpful to other who had the same problems... Hello Danny, Apologies for the delayed correspondence. Please make sure all your songs are formatted in FAT32 and 44.100HZ and that your songs are all in subfolders are made of up no more than 100 songs each. The aforementioned may be causing your unit to crash.

Why would someone use Serato on that controller? If I could afford a controller that had screens and took USB I would never use a laptop again.

Well many, many people whether performers or DJs have songs that have been prepared in a certain fashion that they might like. For example, if it's not too much of a bother, i would take my laptop with me when i DJ, but if it isn't serious or it's too much of a bother, i'd use flashdrives on CDJs. All preference

Laptop has a keyboard, once they put a touch screen keyboard to search your music at will, you won't need a laptop

Robin Buysse you will need to convert the wav file to that number. Can be done in fl studio

search function is poor, i trust denon, but in case of standalone.....ill go for Pioneer XDJ RX1 coz it has nice search function.

There's no way Serato is the most stable DJ software, I'm constantly hearing of problems on social media daily, Virtual DJ is far more stable in my experience.

They each have their strengths and weaknesses, none are perfect

Don't waste your time with Engine. Is the most basic, and full of bugs software than I ever use. I try to created 1 playlist with 20 tracks. All 320 44.100. In Windows the program read 2 tracks and stop working. Same issue with MacOS Sierra. 2 hours for create 1 playlist with 20 tracks. And at least 20 times restart the program.

It's a sham of a library suite. It's impossible to load and analyse more than 6 tracks at a time. I've only just recently bought the MCX8000, I've been Denon loyal with my hardware for over 20 years but this engine software is appalling!!! I hate having a laptop in the booth and at last it seemed like there was an answer with the MCX8000 being a true standalone player, however the music management system (Engine) has absolutely killed my experience. Gutted doesn't come close to describing my disappointment in the Denon software. Thanks for all your hard work in keeping us informed on the Digital DJ news, you're truly the best news feed on the newest trend and gear.
