I shoot with Olympus gear. I also print my own images. The workflow I have found to be best for me is to enlarge 2x in Giga first and then crop. This gives awesome images for printing. Happy New Year Anthony.

You have a great voice for a teacher. It instantly conveys a feeling of warmth, intelligence and focused competence, which is why I am certain so many people follow your tutorials and trust your advice!

Excellent video, Anthony. For many years I shot with an Olympus e5 (12.5MP). It was a good camera with great glass but size does matter for printing. You’ve given me a great idea for the long winter days to come. Thanks 🙏

Brilliant and succinct tutorial, Anthony. I’ve had this program for awhile (along with Lightroom Classic) but was a little intimidated by the tools and was delaying getting into it. No more!! Can’t wait to redo some backyard goldfinch images. A big part of my excitement was also noticing how quickly things rendered on your computer compared to the painfully slow process on my 2017 MacBook Pro. Again, no more!! I have the latest MacBook Pro M1 Max totally loaded with RAM and storage on its way some time later this month. Watching things render in seconds will really encourage much more experimentation in Topaz’s Gigapixel, DeNoise and Sharpen plug-ins. I also didn’t realize how versatile the quadrant view was for comparing two views of the same approach (eg. Standard Auto vs Standard my tweaks). Thanks so much! 😊

I can use this on so many images, especially old jpegs before I shot raw. Thank you for a clear explanation! Love Topaz!

Thanks! As an On1 user, as well as having a full range of the TopazAI apps, including Gigapixel, I've wondered about comparing the ON1 'Resize' with Gigapixel AI (I prefer the Gigapixel AI interface, I admit). Subject for a future video?

Thanks for another great tutorial, your image of the bird looked very sharp and noise free to start with , would it manage a noisy and perhaps with some motor blur also?

I have been going through some older files from a Nikon D70s and aD80, and a Lumix LX100 (M43 12MP) have find that it works most of the time it works to enlarge and improve an image in a reasonable way

Excellent overview, thank you! Question: I am scanning an old 5x7 image that is blurry. It's unfortunately the best image we have of someone that passed away 45 years ago. Should I scan it at very high resolution (eg 4800 dpi), OR, since it's' blurry anyway, just scan at 1200 or even 300 since Gigapixel AI might not get a lot of additional information given how blurry the photograph is. Thanks very much! Art

Anthony, Lets say you need to use Gigapixel, DeNoise and Sharpen on an image. What order you you recommend? I have tried a couple different approaches with mixed results.
@brandonnickerson39382 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Do you tend to crop before running an image through Gigapixel (or Denoise/Sharpen, for that matter)? I have been saving my cropping for the end of my workflow, but that obviously asks the Topaz software to work harder on a larger file and that extends my processing time. The benefit of cropping last has been that it gives me some flexibility in creating multiple different crops when the Topaz software has done its work. So, crop first or last? What do you suggest?
@phlotographer2 жыл бұрын
will love to see AM's response but I suspect your idea would be workable and great if you view an image thinking that there may be a variety of crops that will allow you and others to enjoy the final result.

Thanks for this Anthony. Have you compared Topaz with the resize module of ON1 Photo Raw? I've done a few comparisons and there are fewer artefacts with Topaz and the image looks smoother and more pleasing to the eye. I hope that ON1 will improve their Resize performance as Photo Raw is my main processor and it's a pain exporting images into Topaz.

Anthony. Love your stuff. Do you Crop/Gigapixel/Denoise/Sharpen in that order? Or Crop/Denoise/Gigapixel/Sharpen etc. ? What order so you use in your workflow?

You’ve also demonstrated something else important. Keeping raw files. I ditch raws after I’ve created jpgs but keeping them now is worthwhile.
@phlotographer2 жыл бұрын
with the size and lower cost of large HDD's and BU HDD's it is worthwhile keeping almost everything. I like the auto settings as sometimes I think I overdo sharpness. But as I don't print I find the image on the screen looks pretty good but this program looks to have promise and I might redo some images.
@christopherlloyd81172 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - though I don't keep everything. Once I've produced jpegs of everyhing (well everything in focus and not obviously rubbish) I go through the RAW files and select the ones which seem to have the best composition to go back and do more work on . . . I don't often actually do the work but at least I could if I wanted.
@phlotographer2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherlloyd8117 back in the film era, one had to be cognizant of the $ involved. I still have not gotten into the habit of doing multiple images of similar options of composition etc. I have been retired for 22 years and the world of wedding photography has drastically changed. Now some people say that they did 6000 images at a wedding. I can't imagine simply trying to view that many images much less the cost in my time. During the earlier part of this century not a lot of programs even offered RAW development and so .jpg captures were the option and generally fine. Thus each image had to count but now many programs can improve even .jpgs that may not be perfect but can be salvaged. Unfortunately, with age etc. getting out with the camera is not the same and so it is nice to be able to "play" with past images to see if they can be improved upon with more knowledge and capacity of current programs for digital imaging. Good discussion.
