Hi Chris, I live a little south of you Somerdale NJ aria I watched just about all your videos. I have a 360 gal, pond with goldfish. My question is my neigbor just had her 500 gal. pond redone with goldfish .The guy said you should leave your pump on all year and no UV light the pond should stay natural .I take my pump off and just us a air stone in winter. What do you think is best. Thanks Bob

Hi, I shut all of my ponds down for the winter. Too much can go wrong if things freeze. Just leave your air pump running, and you will be fine. I do have another video on seasonal care, "Winter" that talks a lot more on why I shut the ponds down. I have had some new clients that tell me that they have always left the ponds running all winter, and my advice to them is... If that is what has worked for you, then do that if you want, but if there are problems over the winter, it could cost a lot to buy new pumps or uv's, and I don't really want to fix things when it's freezing cold out, and all the pipes and the pond is frozen.
