I wonder if you could “rake” your crown up using a spiral coil (or a thick headband, open wig cap etc.) as a headband, pushing it up off the hairline to the back of the head. Which you could manipulate how high it ends up. Then secure the hair with a slip knot made of paracord around it & pull it tight! Am gonna try that!!

Am going through your videos. For context: i can do “buns” using a traditional tie by flipping my head forward to rake+gather the hair, propping my arms up on a counter, but can only twist in one direction (forward) so its functional but not that pretty. Cant figure out how to twist backwards but know there must he a simple way!! Ugh! I can smooth the crown out with a brush easily. I only learned how to do a poor ponytail a few years ago by lying my head backwards off the edge of a bed (learned by a girl with one arm on youtube!) & using a coil plastic tie. But the crown doesn’t look presentable & cant be brushed smooth. :/ Watching your videos, just now i tried tying a standard elastic in half (sort of mimicking your bead idea, though that slides-wanna try that too alas no beads to hand at the moment haha) & was able to do a way more decent ponytail! Additionally, your mention of a slipknot just had me make one in a detachable bra strap & I'm thinking that could also work well!! Just pull it tight! Then wrap it! 🤗 Started tonight picking up a rubberized slap bracelet due to curiosity if that would work and found your videos! Thank you!! Love that theres so much richness in how we all do things we’d never think of! Its the need to twist the band again & pull all the way through again which always messes me up, causing the hair to took terrible in the crown. :/ Genuinely excited right now!! Thats rare!!
