This was so helpful and informative! I didn't realize I could just put water on. I thought I needed a heat protectant like the Aveda one I used to use on my bio hair. I love how you break it down so we can understand. I'm so untalented when it comes to styling my hair and have little patience with it. I tried applying heat to my Simmer Elite wig because the ends were getting a little frayed. The wavy wigs seem more difficult to style to keep the same style it came with. I wonder if there is somewhere we can send the wig to be worked on? I won't do it if I have to since my patience and talent isn't there for it.

Frannie, you must have read my mind because I was hoping for a video just like this. I have been debating about getting the René of Paris tool. I will be watching this again, probably more than once. I was really wondering about maintaining curly or wavy heat friendly synthetic. Thank you so much for this video! I actually just got my very first heat, friendly wig recently. I had avoided them for 10 years.

I didn't grow up in the UK and one of the quirks I cannot get my head around is having the washing machine in the kitchen. @@sharonanne1066 Ahhh, I do have a make-up (dressing) table in my bedroom but it would not occur to me to do my hair there. I move around too much to be sitting in a chair. I hear you about the washing machine in the kitchen. I'd much rather have it in the bathroom than the kitchen mostly for aesthetics sake. I guess it is mostly how you grew up. Everything else seems a bit odd. lol

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I use the water the same way you'd use a thermal spray (as a heat protectant). I don't use it with the Rene of Paris tool, because the temp is lower on that (only 240 degrees F), but the Tressallure tool's lowest setting is 280. I've never tried wetting the hair with the ROP tool, but now that you mention it, I will. Always good to test things out. Thank you!💕

I’m glad you found it helpful! For Alexandria, I would use the TressAllure tool and section in small sections. I would move slowly with the curling iron to get more of a curl. Start in the back. When I was first learning, I liked starting in the back to make sure I did it the way I liked it before messing with the front.💕

Maybe dumb question, but how do you decide when to spritz with water before using heat?
@FranniesHair
@FranniesHair 5 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all. I used the water with the higher temp tool (Tressallure's lowest setting is 280 F). I haven't tried water with the Rene of Paris tool (goes to 240F), but I will test to see how it works with the water. When the designer from ROP used the tool, he didn't use water...so I just followed what he did. The water acts as a protectant with the higher heat tools.💕

Did you find one hot tool worked better than the other repairing the ends?
@FranniesHair
@FranniesHair 5 ай бұрын
For really damaged ends on Heat Friendly Fibers, I like to straighten first. For that, I would say the Tressallure Cool Flow Dual Style is better. It really seals all the ends. The Rene of Paris Hot Tool is more of a comb, so it doesn't always get every end, and it's not as hot. But if you have damaged ends on a regular synthetic, I'd go with the ROP Hot Tool because of the lower heat. The higher heat could really damage a regular synthetic wig. Also, remember that Rene of Paris only recommends their tool for their wigs. I will be testing on other wigs going forward to let you know my results.💕

Hi Frannie! I need your help! I new to wigs. Have been diagnosed with androgenic alopecia so my hair is falling off. I have bought 2 tressallure wigs, flawless waves and Trend, and they are clumping together. I only have a flat iron at home that I can adjust the heat on, but I'd love to order the tools yiu are using, but I was told that I have to use heat protectant spray on heat friendly wigs first before using a heat tool on them? Is that true? And if so then what heat protectant spray do I need to buy?
@FranniesHair
@FranniesHair Ай бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. You can use water instead of heat protectant spray. I use that in this video. If you want to get a heat protectant spray, Jon Renau makes a good one: frannieshair.com/collections/hair-care-products/products/heat-treat-thermal-spray Also, I will be reviewing a brand new tool soon that, from what I hear, does not require heat protectant or water. It's supposed to work on regular synthetic as well as HF also. I should be receiving it tomorrow, and I will get to work testing it.

@@FranniesHair thank you so much for being so quick to reply. I feel a bit lost with everything to learn. I am overwhelmed to say the least. Thank you for your sympathy, it means a lot. It's a grieving process to lose your hair. I have listened to your own story, how you came about to start with wigs and I am sorry for what you went through as well but I am glad you are here and healthy. A friend of mine just recently had breast cancer removed and her hair is falling out now from the lack of estrogen. I think they have given her a drug to reduce estrogen and from what I understand estrogen is what's making our hair grow. My androgenic alopecia started now with menopause so I guess it reared it's ugly head due to my estrogen flatlining too due to menopause. I have tried minoxidil and finasteride DHT blocker but I can see it's not enough to hold back the hair loss, plus the finasteride is too harsh on the liver so I think I have to give up the fight of what's left of my hair abd embrace wearing wigs. If I can use plain water instead of heat protectant spray then it's so much better as water is free and no need to order anything on a regular basis. I'm going to look for and join your facebook group. I'd love to be a part of your community for support ❤️
