I'm sure that Chris is a very good practitionner and obviously, he is a strong tall man, but you can see how he really can't stop adam's attacks. That's true mastery ; Even prepared and knowing the style he has to face, there's no way to escape the incoming attacks. From all You Tube Wing Chun channels, this one is quite unique and shows the real stuff, related to real fighting. My respects to them !

Adam, the comment about your xingyi posture being more peng out to the sides solved a riddle for me - thanks. I trained xingyi with Vince Black's earliest students and our arms are more rounded - peng out to the sides. We also have a wider Santi shi stance. Our lineage Santi is different than other schools including other Tang Shou Tao schools. What I realized is that Vince's early xingyi training was from Su Hong Chi, but he also later trained with a lot of other people. Su apparently was tied into organized crime and trained in other arts. He was also known as a fighter. I'm betting he trained I-chuan.

Thank you for doing these Hsing I posts I do several different forms of CMA, but Hsing I provides the versatility and functionality that makes everything else works well. Hsing I is unusual in my opinion in that it is both highly developed from a technical/ physical stand point AND it is highly conceptional like FMA arts. If more people were aware of this great art, I believe it would be much more appreciated thank you Sifu

Yes ! Master Chan. I have never seen a Wing Chun show this since I used to train in NYC Chinatown back in the 1990s under Master Jesse Quionnes who was also a Yi Chuan Master. So every other day was wing chun then yi chuan lessons, and then we mixed it up like you are know. Yi chuan led to xing I, And Ba Qua , it was mainly yi chuan, to build us up for better wing chun execution, and ofcourse all the internal cultivation. Great video Thank you.

If you read the write ups from the 1929 National Leitai, the top Xinyiquan practitioners were best known for their ability to dodge with their footwork. Han Qingtan, one of finisher the top 10 commented on how elusive the Xingyiquan fighter he lost to was and how he dodged everything with the horse shaped form. That Xingquan competitor was defeated in the next round by his training partner in Xingyiquan using lower body trapping. I believe the Xingyiquan fighters discussed above were trained by Sun Luting and iirc a Tianjin Xingyiquan master surname Ma (supposedly notorious a wild man/prankster in the Xingyiquan community).

Excellent break down! I have practiced Wing Chun, Xing yi, Yi Chuan, Taiji (a little Ba gua) as well as Baji and Filipino martial arts. I say you know what you are talking about and have introduced some people to your channel. Keep up the good work! Horse fist is one of my favorite that and Tai bird great high low combination😉

It looks like today you’re showing how the lines that Xingyiquan uses makes it effective in shutting down the standard trapping systems used in Hong Kong Wing Chun. But the demos make it looks like Xinyiquan is pretty overwhelming for Wing Chun trapping. What is the added utility of Wing Chun trapping over Xingyiquan, or more broadly, if someone is highly proficient in Xingyiquan, what does Wing Chun offer? Is it a really good conceptual framework for martial arts? Are there concepts from Wing Chun that could be layered on top of Xingyiquan that bring significant added benefit?

Sifu I never hear you mention white crane. I teach shorinji ryu, and I train wing chun and white crane as they are all related. You are an incredible wealth of information and was just wondering.

Hsing yi does not always goes straights forward only, there are also sideways to dodge or step backward to create a trap but not as many as Bagua Zhang style. Moreover, Hou Xing or monkey form is the most cunning animals style in Hsing yi and not straight forward eventhough the form may look like it's leaping forward. I would to put that Hsing yi is not monotonous push forward style just like you've just said Adam but you're correct that we're executing with relax manner. Finally, I would like to added that Bagua zhang does not always disappear and goes around at the back of attackers but we're also done many move in straight forward manner just like Hsing yi, Although, move around in circling is just only for practicing and not a compulsory to engage in this manner when we're confronting the attacker. Therefore, I would like to state that the different between Baguazhang and Hsing yi is one art rely more on striking and one art rely more on throwing/ joint locking not just only straight line or circling around as both arts consist of both elements either circling or straight forward as many Baguazhang practitioners resolve something straight forward.

How about some Wing Chun and inserting some WIng Chun? I'm sure there are many topics esp legs that are not explored...and Wing Chun also changes angles, we call it moving the line...
@trondyne35132 жыл бұрын
@Boxing Bot There are an almost infinite number of expressions of Wing Chun that also keeps with the main idea of the system... A high and low line of continuous linear energy, ways of dealing with resistance both high and low, ultra close range or inside Wing Chun's preferred range (clinch defense recovery), outside Wing Chun's preferred range, leg work sticking legs, stance destruction, kicking, methods of attack, counter attack I mean...really... You don't need to look elsewhere it's almost like Wing Chun is a whole f-ing art in itself... And I have yet to see any of the advanced leg stuff or stand up grappling/clinch stuff addressed here whatsoever, let alone any of the fine details of the art found in the forms, common street attacks, self defense elements, weapon defense, disarms, takedown defense, ground recovery.... LOL

Okay but if you don't begin from the context of being over powered. Or clinched. Or not seen it coming. Then it makes no sense. Why would someone engage in such a weak tactical position who was sure they could fight you. Sure the rando maybe. But if you are at a bar and someone tackles you into a wall then what. Or say you just get bear hugged and your arms are out of the picture and totally trapped. Something someone would do. Like how could you apply this to a clinch when you can't see them. Or how do you visually see them when that happens. And you miss it.

Oi ups Hakka fist Wing Chun homie how do Wing Chun defend against Kickboxing or Muay Thai especially against head kicks, teep kicks, body kicks or low leg kicks to close head clinch knee homie. Cause I am Sanda Shou Kickboxer fighter fights in Kickboxing Tornaments although not a M.M.A Fighter but have been learning both Jiujitsu and Jujutsu grappling with Tai Chi Tuishou push hands. And a hopeful transition into m.m.a competition since confident to fight in stand up against any martial arts format but never trained in a light non injury no gi placement precision pressure sparring se with a Wing Chun Elite Professional Fighter before learning and observing combinations and techniques though respectful body touch homie that be so awesome oi💛💯🥊🪖🤟😎.
