Your property is STUNNING! Yesterday, Wednesday 5/24, I visited Creekside Nursery. I was so excited and I took a picture by the entrance sign. As we drove down the gravel rode, I saw Jenny filming at the berm. Jerry was in the nursery parking lot and he greeted us as we were walking toward the nursery. Jerry is very kind and sweet. We talked for a few minutes, then my daughter and I walked around the nursery. I pointed out all the plantings that I have seen Jenny work on through the years, the empress wu hosta fridge, the Jackson wheelbarrow filled with annual plants, also the iconic bridge to the pines. The retail green house setup is so amazing to me. I purchased a Creekside tshirt that I have seen Jenny wearing lately. Jackson gave me a push pin to indicate where I have traveled from, which is Southern California, to visit them. And yes, he is so sweet and kind just like his Daddy! All the employees were very courteous and very friendly. When we left, Jenny and the film crew had moved to her shade garden at the side of their home. I am glad we included North Carolina and our visit to Creekside Nursery into our itinerary! Another check off on my bucket list.

I woke up this morning to see what Jenny was doing and first thing I see is a bobcat moving soil around … even my husband stopped to watch! It’s exhausting trying to explain the importance of mulch to non-gardeners. Sadly they love the idea of rubber mulch which makes me want to cry 😢🦋

I have a family member who doesn’t understand the value of mulching. The roots on her azaleas are exposed, and the front of the house looks terrible because she won’t replace the mulch. I’m telling you what you say is absolutely the truth and I try to tell people that mulching is about protecting the roots and retaining moisture also.

Seriously loved the way Brenna has developed. She had her back to you guarding you so you could be safe. I have only planted lantana once in the ground around my mailbox, big mistake. When I pulled it out I had roots for days and will never do that again. My traumas now are gardenias, can’t seem to keep the perennial ones alive and Turks cap. My aunt has one that circles her house but I can’t keep one from season to season. I am 7b Tennessee. Hey guys, great community here.

I think Lemon Zest is from the Bandana series. For both the mounding and trailing/landscape versions of Lemon Zest, the Bandanas don't get as tall as other Lantanas. I guess that may depend on the location. We have an open spot, about 15' wide and 3' deep, in the front of our smallish shrub/perennial bed. We're thinking the mounding Bandanas would work for us here in Central Texas. Just need to figure out the spacing and which color(s) to choose.

Question on mulch. We have a lawn care guy that cuts grass and does spring and fall clean up. We have many trees like your shade garden. Would it be better to have him blow them in our forest garden beds or no? We live in Upstate NY, zone5. Our trees are maples and pine. Mulch is just to expensive for the amount we need. I rather spend money on plants. What about bugs and diseases? Great vid as always.

I haven't noticed an abundance of them this year, but I faithfully used a slug & snail bait last year to combat them so that may have decreased our population. I am using it again this year around my dahlias & shad beds and so far so good! I order mine from Amazon (it's just makes life easier) and it is listed simply as Slug & Snail Bait and is a great organic solution that you can used around pets & your whole garden. Hope this helps!
