Using Longbows Properly - Gameplay Commentary -

One of the best things about longbows that I haven't seen with many other ranged units: when you tell them to fire at a point, they'll fire there IF there's a target there. Once that target location is cleared, they will automatically start shooting at the closest unit(s) to the point of aim.

Hey Plum regarding MAA: You don't need first middle line node anymore. they have active block automatically when in cover commander.

@@Persinus I haven't checked it with the latest Patch, but It definitly worked 100% til last week. I tested it in custom Lobby MAA vs MAA. Full bottom with rest top always won

I play them the same way, except that I place them on the other side of the map, at the hill just past the C point. There they are bit more exposed to enemy heroes, but they can hit whole main point area and most of the defenders place their range just outside the spawn zone which is directly opposite from my unit so I get clear shots, your placement is bit more safer but that wooden walls block some of the arrows.

I have to say, Houndsmen are meta. Not only their dogs can stop cav, they can also distract MAA in cover commander. You have to send them slightly behind MAA, so they will turn their back while chasing dogs and expose it to arrows. Its a timing game, but its very effective. Another thing about Houndsmen, if you lose 10 dogs and resummon them, you wont have 18 archers and 8 dogs. Every time you resummon them you will have equal archers and dogs units, in this case 13/13

A little but it's more the 250 healing a sec for 15 that Combined with the mastery is really strong

Had a game where I nuked 2 units of Falcos, 1 unit of Imperial arqebusiers and half a unit of kriegs. I Still got flammed by one loser with like 30 kills. I mean I literally killed almost 1000 leadership worth of falcos and guns and he still flammed me. I had imp shields and MAA as my other 2 units so it wasn't like I was full range.

About men at arms i play them bottom line but with full offensive epic doc.... their survivability is decent and still melt things easy

@@Canosy093 Hum i see it has has more of a question of what doctrines you have, if you have good offensive docs people go bottom if they have good defense docs they go top, i think that is what people mostly do, in the end is a question of preference.

Use charge doctrine 5 for MAA. Really helpful and it works on cover commander mode.

Yeah, Longbows can wreak havoc on infantry units, but really they are meant to be anti-ranged ranged infantry (no pun intended). I believe, in fact, they are STILL the only ranged unit in the game that can shoot further than Falconetti Cannons.

It's in the settings. You only get to choose from 3 colours if I recall correctly.

Longbows were always good just people used them wrong when they think they can shoot imperial spearmen with them.Its a unit for anti ranged and non shield targets.I wonder what their mastery will look like.

If i have to guess, they will probably get some kind of ability that increase their damage or rate of fire when hitting range units, masterys are meant to help a unit do its job better, so something on those lines has greater probability to happen. Maybe they get something that decrease their ranged damage taken, or get more ammo from range kills, dont know, but what i have almost 100% certain is that something to do with ranged units will appear.

Go bottom line. You get much more damage to everything and ranged still dies in one hit.
