Using LS DROID to flash my 1500HD for the first time! FREE! No HP TUNERs! NO EFI Live!

EDIT: Been a while since i posted this video. Important Updates-
1) The best (only, really) obd tool to use for this is the OBDX Pro VT.

2) LS droid isnt in alpha anymore. The steps for flashing have changed some for reading, flashing, etc
3) go to / lsdroid to get all the important up to date details and help


A couple weeks ago I downloaded the .bin file for my truck with LS Droid Alpha. The newest LS Droid beta allows you to write to p01 and p59 pcms, so I opened up my .bin file in Tunerpro. Made a couple changes, and here I am flashing them on.
Besides flashing calibrations and operating systems (OS), LS Droid can change VINS.
When you read a bin, edit it with TunerPro, you can also delete VATs.

You should be able to read the PCM the same way am I right or would it brick it being that it's in the vehicle? I thought the point of the bench harness was so you could read and write outside the vehicle and not chance bricking?

Ive flashed in this truck about 100 times. Brickrd it once because i edited a part of a bin i wasnt supposed to (my own fault). Been fine otherwise. I ve never bench flashed.

I heard 03+ have more issues with flashing in vehicle, but i havent really heard much about it.

Does it have to be that specific obd2 scanner or will other obd2 port to USB connectors work also?

only that specific scanner, or the obdx pro vt that is produced by the creator of the app. using the obdx pro vt allows you to use the windows verison of the app and higher speed reading and flashing. all future development and support for the app has been shifted to the obdx pro vt so its worth while to buy that if you dont already have the obd device i have in the video. for answers to all questions and more: facebook.com/groups/LsDroid

Can it do a crankshaft sensor relearn on a 2004 tahoe? And flash?

No it can't do a relearn. Just reads and flashes pcm

Mechanic is suggesting that I change the pcm in my 2004 chevy z71 due to a random misfire. Junkyard has one for $50 and said it has to be flashed.

Random and intermittent, finally after months I got a code for it even though I was just about to change it anyway. 04 Avalanche 111k Not a real bad job to replace but use a Delco. Have to remove starter and it's right above it. The starter just barely fit up out of the way.

Theres been some firmware issues with the mx. Check out the ls droid group on Facebook, there may be a solution there.

This is only for p01 and p59 computers. I think ly6 is e38 computer.

@@halfbreed_saab3032 i have a very specialized way of swapping thats only for imported jdm motors. I suggest you get an i wire harness or look up how to harness merge on rs25.com
