On my K-X, I use the Aperture Priority and it works fine.

Coming from adapted K on Sony E, I had no idea what stop down mode meant until I started messing with my k-x. Once I figured out the body actually holds the aperture lever wide open and only released it on shutter press, I figured it out. But the auto metering is a life saver. A little bit cumbersome compared to Sony's live view exposure, but I just love the ergonomics of DSLRs, and the Pentax feels even more comfortable and intuitive than my Canon. On my k-x, the av button operates stop down, but I think I can program my green button to do it as well.

I use KA lenses (aside from some DA and newer Tamrons), so I don't need to stop down. KA's let the shooter use all the metering functions with the aperture ring in A mode, including the auto scene modes. That lets me focus on getting my subject in focus! :)

What I want is a Mylar "A" adapter for K/M lenses to force the camera to recognize them as A. Should be minimal affect on infinity focus, if any. Make a series for the various focal lengths so the camera sees them as "A" lenses.

On my Pentax K30 I must first put my camera in Manual mode otherwise the menu used to select “Permitted” is not there.

I think actually having a manual lens to hand would have been very helpful

Rebuild that FA* lenses in DFA* series. At least 24/2, 85/1.4, 200/4 Macro and 250-600/5.6 pls. These are missing in current lineup.
