Great quick video! You should do this with one of the older 6MP cameras like perhaps the Pentax * istDS2 for the sake of us Six-Megapixel Club members and anyone wishing to use vintage Pentax lenses on these older camera bodies. Thanks for the video.

Many thanks, I didn't realise I had to set TV mode for the green button to meter older lenses accurately, and boy I have a few lovely Ks and Ms. I feel more confident about using them now. Before, exposure was a bit off and I lost confidence. 'A' lenses have always worked fine with AV but great to be able to use my K 28mm 2.0 and K 35mm 2.0, thanks again.

p.s my K 35mm 2.0 has a distinctly yellow cast - Thorium, anybody? I thought about bleaching it with ultra violet light but... I kind of like the way it renders, and if I bleach it, there's no going back for another 50 years! I think I'll leave it and use software if it's too obvious, but so far so good.

Wow! Changed P line ->Tv shift on my KP. Green button works soo much better now since I can meter after selecting the desired aperture. Didnt know this option existed.... Thanks a lot! Subscribed.

And manual focus zooms? Input an average focal length? Say, 100mm for a 75 -150 zoom?

I have a 200mm f5.6 Tele-Takumar manufactured between '65 - '69 SN 1705313. It has two aperture rings. The front ring is set to the f stop that you desire. The rear ring to allow focusing with the lens wide open. I follow the instructions in this video but the light meter does not activate. I can shoot in Aperture Priority mode.

Pentax took away the aperture ring, now I cannot use DSLR lenses on film cameras. Also, why does it have to be so difficult to use vintage lenses on DSLRs? I mean, it should be a matter of just switching to the M setting and having the exposure info available, like in a film KX. On a KX you knew how far off your exposure was and was quick to adjust. Why not have a dedicated DOF button? Metering was easy on the film KX even when using stopped-down metering. I could even use adapted enlarger lenses for macro, which I still do on my KX and MX bodies.

I guess pentax removed the aperture lever in the D-SLR to make users buy its digital lenses, because of the great ammount of K film lensens still around in the early 2000. And it's still on this politic, even on the too long waited full frame. It's such a mess, because nowdays almost nobody spends money into the diyng pentax system, at least if you don't have a some good K manual lensens to use on it. I really can't undestrand how terrible is the company strategy of Pentax from the '90. They destroyed a great company. Richo hasn't changed a lot in a while.

Only works with m42 glass. K-mount will remain wide open until the camera stops it down

Yep! In the video we show how to set the focal length so the IBIS knows how much to compensate!

Apologies. I should pay more attention. Thank you for your patience. I’m on the verge of coming back to Pentax after years of folly with other brands. I used Pentax in the early 1970s and ‘80s. Landscape and the prospect of astrophotography are something that I think the K1 Mark II should do well. Thanks again for such an informative video.
