@Quill18 A really good fleet combination is Lancers with siege coil cannons and spinal UV phasers. Don't even bother with any hull weapons other than phaser point defense. Use 1 coil to 4 phaser lancers in the fleet. Coils will deal with alien ships that do not maneuver lasers will deal with any aliens that try to flank. Make sure to assign targets and tell your phaser lancers to point towards the targets. If you run out of exotics for your lancer main weapons and/or you are low on raw resources you can also build a "disposable" fleet of battlecruisers, with lower tier main weapons (exotic cost is not worth it on 3 slot weapons). Armour-wise frontal 120-150 armour points is enough to take few hits and not lose main weapon. On sides around 5 - 10 armour is good enough to survive some flanking laser shots or stray plasma. With that setup just form a wall (or high/great wall) and slowly float towards the enemy, taking care to assign targets to your phaser lancers. Let your coil ships point towards the non-flanking enemies and don't even bother shooting anyone else, as all shots will just miss. With this setup you will be able to defeat alien fleets that have 3 times more combat power than you.

I just realized, I think the reason I'm so addicted to this series is because it reminds me of Aurora 4x but with significantly better graphics. Like yeah a little different scope, as Terra Invicta is solely in the Solar System, but basically the same scale and depth within the scope as you have all the politics and country interplay. Much more like Aurora than, say, HOI or Stellaris to my mind.

I imagine this game is banned in China, considering that not only Taiwan is not considered a part of it, but you can also unify both with Taiwan as point of origin.

I think maybe the AI is, with the water for metal trades, simulating humans coming together and since you have better ship tech they are willing to put resources to best use.

@57:00 Either way the game does offer you the ability to make a template. Why not make both? One template for a "balanced" station that you want to spam, and one template for a specialist base with everything needed except the specialist modules and then you just add them when you make a station. No need to make each station from scratch. Treat stations more like ships.

38:20 That original Layered Defense Array on the Io base isn't going to be finished for 3 years, because you accidentally shipped it from Earth. I really feel like the game should warn you a little more before it does something like that. So it's a good thing you added another one!

Is there a way to make a ship carrier in this game? Basically a big engine that a bunch of other ships dock with in order to go between planets or to intercept enemy fleets in deep space. I have read that small fighter vessels are curretntly being contemplated for the game, although I am not sure whether this would also include carrier mother ships. I am also unsure of both the actual use case and realistic practicality of such a system.
