On FL or WavePad. FL has a stereo separation knob near the bottom of the mixer track. WavePad has a stereo/mono dropdown at the bottom left I think

Every time I go to select an input channel i get a notification saying this- 'You've selected an external input. Do you want to switch to External input only to avoid recording internal audio on this track?' Everytime I click Yes or No, nothing happens. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? This is the first time this has happened. I have been using this same microphone for 6 months and it worked just fine, I never touched or changed any audio settings either. This only started to happen after I updated my FL Studio.

FL Studio ASIO brings large latency for me (Mackie Onyx Producer card). However ASIO4All works well (minimum latency). Anyway thanks for the other tips!

Check later on in the video. If you disabled the mic from going to the master channel that is probably the issue. You can drop the recorded audio onto your song and assign it to a new mixer track

just curious but what is the difference using a usb mic or a interface plug-in mic? and IF different why?

An interface would give you more control and you can plug your mic in with an XLR lead and hear it in real time through headphones while you record. Interface allows you to see the audio level and adjust it quickly too. My interface also has EQ and reverb etc built in (I don’t use them haha but it’s nice they’re there 😅)

The guy foregets to mention how at the bottom right when in the mixer-window, you need to select your *Output. He missed mentioning that part in this vid when he closes the Mixer-window and focuses on the Edison-window at the 2:25 mark. You wont hear anything if you don't select your *Output ('audio output target').

That depends if you want to hear it while you record or not. If you just want to hear it back after the recording has finished you can drag the audio onto the playlist like I do in the video

@@RewiredRecords Okay, I have just now done that, and you're right- and I understand it's all about (minor-) options- but whilst still in the Edison, after stopping the recording, the 'Loop/Play(back)/Scrub/Stop' at the top left aren't that important?- dragging immediately what may not be a satisfactory sample in the project is? I get where you're coming from if there's multi-audio material constituting the Project-area, but with microphones/adjusting how they're coming out, it'd help to mention that when still working within the Edison window.

Hey, so my Edison says its picking up my mic but when i play it back i hear absolutely nothing. Maybe it might be the Mic to master disabled but i would really like some help with this.

Drag the audio clip onto the playlist and it will work, or enable the mic channel to route to the master channel

I would guess that your interface has 2 mic inputs and each one goes to a different side. On my Focusrite it comes through 1 headphone / speaker so you need to set the stereo separation to mono.

Try recording in free WavePad or Audacity to see if it’s crackly in there too. That way you can rule out if it’s an issue with the mic, interface or FL

Did you install Asio4all when you installed FL Studio? If not you should be able to find it on google or you can reinstall FL and make sure you tick to install ASIO at the same time

I know this is a long shot since it’s an old video, but I need some help. Everything you showed worked great, but my audio levels are really low and idk how to fix it. When I watch you recording, your levels are normal. When I’m recording, the green bar barely goes up at all.

Have you got the volume turned up full on your interface? Also you can check in your computer’s microphone device settings to see if you can turn the volume up there. If those things don’t work you could move Edison down to a lower slot in the FX chain and put some plugins above it that would boost the volume like a Limiter or Compressor etc that has a volume / gain knob. You can also Normalize the audio after recording to get it to full volume. I hope that helps. - Ste
