Animals are so fast, can feel when she is flying close to ground. Can also see flying is a workout from how heavily she breathes once lands. +++

That camera and the way you mounted it is remarkably stable. I've seen lots of footage on birds but this is really solid. What a beautiful bird. Really great way to see the speed they can move at. And so very low to the ground. Love that day 7 footage, her head is up and moving around a lot more. She seems more engaged. I'm trying to imagine being able to move that fast and process that much visual information as rapidly as she must to be able to track moving prey/lure that well. Powerful and incredible animals. Thanks for sharing this.

This really isn't my kind of content, but I found it fascinating. You've done a great job on this. The footage from the bird was awesome.

I can't imagine how fast their brain is processing their surroundings. I know chipmunks practically see us in slow motion, which is what makes them so quickly able to react. I think it's the same for falcons.
@Shreyadharwani2 ай бұрын
They have small body functions so their reflexes are faster than human our reflexes are slow because our signals should travel mor distance in our body That's why it's a relative difference

Great... this mounting really helps to show just how hard these peregrines work their wings... none of that 'idling about' like an eagle ;-) Seems like several wingbeats per second, and, also cool to see how close to the ground she's flying, the first couple of days.
@MercerFalconry2 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s very interesting to see, generally the rule is wing beats are proportional to the size of the bird so eagles don’t flap often but a humming bird flaps so fast we can’t see individual beats

Great job, I too have been looking for a tiny camera, I wanted to make a hood cam, but no camera exists yet with a light enough weight, this camera you have looks ideal the way you mounted it. Seems that it will build muscle at the same time, in some ways 26g of food is not a great deal to carry, I'm thinking more about HH. I'm very impressed with what you achieved with your peregrine, great footage , a wonderful birds eye view.

It was purely a paperwork thing, the other falcons have documents that allow me to use them for displays but as the peregrine is of wild origin I am not allowed to use her for that so I decided to let her be part of this project instead. I am planning to have Skye backpacked and try it with her though!

Bro u r an awe bird trainer. I am parrot trainer n I too wanted to mount this insta 360 go 2 on my racing pigeon. Just wanted to know can a pigeon bare it's weight? I have tried gps mounted on my pigeon which weighs 40grams. My pigeon managed to fly till 3minutes but not so high.
@MercerFalconry2 жыл бұрын
I think the camera weighs about 26g so if a pigeon can lift 40g it will be fine with the camera!
@stepho99992 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say a Falcon was the fastest ,in a stoop it can gather speed ,but that's basically wings back into a nose dive ..it would be hard pushed to keep up with pigeon on a level flight .

Have u tried this insta on a pigeon?

@lohikarhu7342 жыл бұрын
'altitude', not height ;-) - Height is for people and buildings, - Elevation is for land and mountains - Altitude is for birds, aircraft, et al... Just one of those pesky things that a German friend insisted on getting correct! ;-)

Thank you for adding that, I have to weigh up making sure I use enough proper language for people to learn but not so much that it gets confusing for people
