Using New Powerful Tools to dig for Elusive Gold

I’m in charge at a gold mine and use the backhoe to scrape the surface on top of cemented cap rock to metal detect for gold nuggets afterwards. Exciting times as I use a jackhammer for the first time to retrieve more gold out of the ground. Using power tools is a lot easier than digging the gold by hand.

It looks to me like you could really use a wheelbarrow or some other wheeled trailer type conveyance. That way, you can keep the generator and the jackhammer in something you can just wheel around in one load instead of wearing yourself out with multiple trips every time you walk over to your target. That way, you also have a cleaner surface to break up small stones with the rock hammer and can run the generator directly on it without having to put it down.

I do not think that most of your subscribers realize just hard it is for you to pump out great videos after working as hard as you do all week. Just a tip Krissy you might have done this already but always do a pre start check,then start it then do another check under the hood and all the hoses for oil and water and fuel leaks,better to catch them before they become major problems,awesome video.

Good job driving the backhoe. Not sure I would say the words "crash course" out loud before you drive it with nobody around. ;-) It reminds me of every single time I would run a bucket truck during my career in the sign business...thinking through each step first. I'm so glad to see you trying out the hammer but you might want to try one a little smaller so it won't be so hard on you . One other idea, use your four wheeler to move the hammer from one place to another. I just read some of the other comments so sorry if I'm bringing up the same ideas but we're all love watching and so happy when it all finds you some gold ;-]

Hi Krissy, ask Trent to teach you about steering brakes, when the front wheels are light on the ground they help immensely, also make sure when you push dirt or anything heavy you are in low gear otherwise you can damage the clutch or transmission. If you are back blading for grading ask about the front bucket float setting. I have spent many many hours on a machines like that, with practice and seat time you will be awesome with the equipment. Hey Krissy try with the tractor when clearing site , use the spike on jack hammer as a ripper as you drive forwards but set it shallow about 1 1/2 inch or tractor will struggle , angle it forward at 30 degrees , should help loosen it nicely , best of luck hope you find some rippers to brag about , cheers from phil

Great perseverance Krissy! On your generator, if it has a “eco throttle” (makes it run slower when not under a load, turn it off! Will help the jackhammer respond quicker and less wear on the jackhammer motor! Glad to see you caring a smaller rock hammer with you now. Also a heavy duty wagon or small trailer to pull behind your atv to carry the generator and jackhammer around at the mine site would help I believe. Keep after the gold! Your doing great! And you are not afraid to try new things. This is excellent!

Hi Krissy, the neo magnets are very brittle, i use a new with a hole pre-drilled in it and screw it to the base of my pick handle. Since then no more broken magnets. You are getting a handle on the backhoe. Enjoy

After a while you will be operating the tractor without having to think about which lever does what, it will begin to come naturally to you, and its something to add to your resume if you ever need it, and that jack hammer was definitely a good addition, no more smashed knuckle's, major bonus, glad you got a couple of nuggets for your work, do you think they will want to keep working that area, as it does seem to be getting quieter there, I hope a good patch turns up, to keep you busy and smiling, All the best Krissy!

Hi krissy...never followed a big "yella machine" with the detector, makes the detecting a lot easier, but, sorry to see it still means dealing with old timers rubbish. What a downside.... that reminded me why over the years i always avoided rubbishy areas. I enjoy wandering around areas where there is no rubbish, that is virgin country. Krissy next time you go to town for gas and goodies you might look for a little trailer or cart to pull behind your ATV big enough for the jackhammer and generator, you could leave the generator right on the cart and save your back a little

Keep up with your fluid in take while dragging those tools around. And I mean water not beer! Haha. You should strap down the generator to the quad bike and move the jackhammer around that way. Easier on your back and energy saver.

The little bits of metal could or may be grinding of metal from machine buckets too , tip the metal problems ,, try making a 1 metre wide or bigger if you like , a set up magnet broom , use the magnets from good mechanic tools spread out across broom head , go over ground 1st with this tool to gather or find the shit , then detect quicker an more confidently that your not wasting effortlessly, then place all rubbish into one dump area an kindly mark it , thx phil
