@@nekuchan900true. Rotten butterflies is only good for applying rot, the actual damage itself is fairly bad. Aeonia is still better for pure dps and the rot build up is very high from my experience. But yeah, hefty rot pots are much better since they deal the same kind of rot as the incantations.

It's funny, every person I hear talk about it says it's trash but I picked it up on a whim 1 time and quickly realized that it's basically guarunteed rot proc on anything that isn't immune

I love rotten butterflies, looks amazing, pretty much rots anything in one cast whereas rotten breath is usually 2. If you get the butterflies half off and then get hit then some of the butterflies remain and pop and release rot.

Fun fact, you can just ignore basically all grabs with rotten butterflies. That includes ALL of hoarah loux's grabs.

I thought this would be utter torture but Rotten Butterflies is lowkey really good... the fact that it's biggest strength is insane rot buildup and you manage to first-try the boss that is IMMUNE TO ROT is utterly ludicrous, this community has been sleeping on this spell big-time

As slow as the animation is, it's nice that the butterflies stay even if you get hit. Also, all that Rot and the style points for 1 spell slot is pretty nice

I tried it once on Bayle, and it stayed in my slots. This is definitely better than Scarlet Aeonia. It is quicker to cast, and the rot buildup is insanely fast. Most of the time I just cast it from afar and wait for the boss to charge into the butterflies' explosion.

I feel like it's going to get patched but this is a seriously slept on incant one I found you can get knocked out of animation and still get the butterflies off, two this puts out ALOT of status build up I found that the albunaurics on the palace approach site of grace have some fair poison and rot resist and this incant doesn't seem to care about that and three paired with a solid build the damage is pretty fair paired with deadly rot this can be a real effective tool to maintain pressure in PVE. But yeah I overlooked this one and it's crazy that this can still go off despite being knocked out of animation

i commend your spirit, but alas, you didn't convert me on this incant lol. seriously though, i have a ton of respect for the skill and game knowledge it took for you to beat the game with this. maybe it's a good complement for the poison flower blooms twice (if the weapon art reapplies rot after it detonates the rot already on the target, which idk if it does), but there are so many other ways to proc rot that don't force you to face-tank a bunch of hits and/or do better physical damage, like the new hefty jars, ekzyke's decay (which you can buff with the rock heart, and still keep the blue dancer buff), repeating thrust on the antspur or with rot grease, or even barrage or rain of arrows depending on the size and mobility of the target. and there are way better incants for general boss killing. ancient dragon lightning strike is still the goat for anything big (and now even more op with the priestess heart or death knight armor, and add on the gavel of florissax debuff . . . it's kind of stupid tbh), you have uncharged lightning spear for input readers, the holy frisbee of your preference for the undead, and almost any fire incant for the rest of the game, although catch flame remains relevant all the way to end game

It’s a tricky incant to use, but when you pop it off at the right times, it’s pretty sick Saw Tulok and Mango use it and Romina’s Halberd for a challenge run, and dang he made it look good.

Good run. It's actually same rot value as hefty pots, wich are easier to find openings for, so i think the butterflies really do deserve their place on the bottom of the pile. Also for just as a side tangent, best poison in terms of damage per proc and not per second are poison infused venomous fangs, as they inherit the tic damage from deadly poison but also get the longer duration from reglar poison (90 instead of 30).

@@lukassmida4885 Throwables have a long recovery (still shorter than this incant), don't scale that well and limited to a set amount per craft. You probably could beat bosses just with them (roundrock run is a thing, look it up), but you will have to carefully look for openings and be willing to trade damage with some bosses. Craftables are not op. You have no idea what you're talking about.

The Butterflies can also ignore grabs from bosses while you’re casting it. I’m not saying it’s better then the pots, but it’s more fun to use and still pretty great for building up rot.

Scarlet aeonia only does more damage on small enemies, also only does ~700 rot buildup, rotten butterflies can easily go beyond 1500 buildup, also far easier to cast.

@@snuppet True but in this case I can't agree on buildup and ease of casting. Meaning how many butterflies can touch Radahn guy? 3 at best? No big dmg nor buildup. They need you to choose cast timing so that the boss will be staying close to you for all the cast time which is long. In this video we can see some casts are totally screwed just because boss moved away. With Aeonia it won't happen cause you throw this big flower into them with real big AOE. Guaranteed dmg and buildup while butterflies are super inconsistent. That's why I totally disagree on "far easier to cast". Well to cast maybe but to hit with it? That's the problem. Actually the main reason I didn't switch to butterflies when I killed that Scorpio maid Proly it's better to switch only if there's some super big and low mobility dude. Only in that case I see it as better option. Cause 3 butterflies hit doesn't make it better than Aeonia. If more of them do like 7 well that works

@@Az-ecim the buildup of rotten butterflies isn't from the butterflies, it comes from an invisible aoe that is created when the cast goes off, so it immediately does ~1000 rot buildup the second it is casted while scarlet aeonia has an extremely long windup and majority of the rot buildup only happens on the explosion, all of which has no hyper armour. And as for the actual damage, I already said aeonia is better on small things, but anything bigger and the butterflies outweigh it everytime and it's not even close.
