I landscaped for 3.5 years of my life and I've never seen a half-moon or that manual grass edge trimmer. We used a gas edger, which was basically a weed-whacker with what looked like a mini lawn-mower blade about 20cm long turned to spin sideways. There was also a roller wheel to help guide you along and, of course, a safety guard built in. It would define sidewalks, pathways, and plant beds like nobody's business.

@TekedixXx3 жыл бұрын
The thing that really gets me about this "Simulator" is that these mowers don't have the reverse cutout, which stops your engine if you go into reverse so you don't mow over your kids (That's how they market it lol). You can turn it off really easily, but just that one control in this game would go a long way to simulate the frustration I feel when I forget to turn my key one notch back, and end up stalling out in the corner of my lawn when I go to reverse out. I mean, me too thanks!

Most mowers will leave stripes even without a roller as they tend to lay the grass down in the direction travelled. The stripes left by the mower I use (an articulated stiga with a mulcher deck very similar to black beauty but yellow) are noticeable but obviously not as defined or crisp as a roller would produce.

Few things from another former landscaper (U.S., tho, and a family business so any jargon might honestly just be stuff my dad said and no one else) 1. Pretty sure the stripes (which we just called lines) come mostly from the tires themselves because our mowers all left them and none had those rollers 1b. Though our push mowers had rubber flaps that dragged behind them 1c. Using a football/soccer field is a good analogy, we called it ballparking because of how well they do it in baseball fields 2. What you call 'tufts' we called skips and every time my boss saw one he joked about docking us a quarter per skip (it was never funny) 2b. also every time someone new learned to mow: "How much of the grass do we cut? ALL of the grass" 2c. He told this to my girlfriend before sending her to the one house where you dont do that because theres a giant mudpit - -it took four of us to pull it out because the other drivable mower was in the shop so we couldnt tow it. 3. Your technique is almost EXACTLY the same as ours was, with circling twice before starting your lines. Only difference is all of our mowers shot the cut grass out of the right so you had to do two laps trying to face it away from anything and everything you didn't want to clean up later. 4. Oh yeah, strimmers are called weed-whackers or weed-eaters here and commercial ones are strong enough to throw pebbles through windows and shatter them (I made this comment before getting to that part of the video) 5. AND MOST IMPORTANT: Toro zero-turn best mowers ever

I grew up living on a sugar cane farm and my dad would get me to slash (slasher is a large mower that goes on the back of a tractor) the grass on all the headlands and break rows between the cane paddocks. Dad would get up me for not slashing under this one large tree near the river, so I did it one day and as I was backing under the tree a rock flew out the slasher and bounced of the tree and smashed the rear window on the tractor, it sounded like a shotgun going off behind me. There was glass all through the cab and I didn't have any shoes on and got a couple of small cuts on my right hand from flying glass.
