In this video, learn how RISA-3D utilizes member design optimization in order to select appropriate member sizes according to strength and serviceability conditions. These conditions are assigned using Design Rules and optimization can be done for steel, cold-formed steel, wood and concrete members.

I would like to optimize with Australian shapes. I have set up the design list with Australian shapes but the program ignores that and keeps suggesting AISC shapes. What can I do?

Carsten, if the Design List that you created isn't working and you created a section set which specifies that Australian design list as the one the software should choose shapes from, I would reach out to support@risa.com and share your model with them so they can see if there is something incorrect in the setup.
