In more than 20 years as a forensic scientist, most of the victims in the cases investigated by Associate Professor Paola Magni were women.
The Murdoch University researcher has been a vocal advocate against family and domestic violence, including as the ambassador for the Red Shoes Australia art installation during the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
But Dr Magni says action should not stop at 16 days and is on a mission to use science to put an end to the scourge that continues to take the lives of women and children across the globe.
