very useful video. i'm new to using mods in general, used to be dead set on playing vanilla games with the zealotry of a crusader. so naturally i didn't know shit about mods and how they work. but when i saw what stardew community creates i was in awe with some of the things i saw and decided to give mods a chance. videos like this one made that intimidating process far easier and way less confusing. thank you so much.

Thanks for making this video, I saw so many stardew players make videos/posts about how great the profile feature was but you're the only one that I saw that mentioned how to actually use the profiles with the play button in the stardrop module! Which I get, it's obvious in retrospect but to someone new to using mods it's an important step that's frustrating to miss.

Star Drop Is Amazing. But the video mentions quickly that you can unzip the stardrop file anywhere without showing the process and that confused the crap out of me. So if you are having issues make sure that your first step after you download star drop from Nexus, is that you drag the star drop folder from Win Rar in your downloads, to your desktop, or wherever you want the folder. The confusing thing is that you can totally run the setup program whether it has been saved to the computer or not, but nothing will work as far as file paths etc. Mango. Fun vid, but talking just a little slower, and switching screens a little less quickly would make things Sooo much easier. Thanks for pointing the program out. I think it will be very helpful by letting me turn on demanding add ons for say a day or two in the game without making it take 20 minutes for everything to load.

yea I'm at a total loss right now. I clicked manual download on star drop after downloading smapi and installing mods and such. I am now trying to use it but do I put it in my mods folder? Do I leave it on my desktop? And it's asking for a file to bring it to and I'm extreamly lost.

Thank you for this video! I tried installing stardrop once and removed it bc I didn’t understand anything. This cleared up a lot and now I can keep my main save file intact. 😊

Very odd. I have a mods folder, I have SMAPI and use the mods regularly. But copying the path to my local files caused Star Drop to say that the mods folder path does not exist where it is saved on my computer.

ik you posted this comment a year ago and probs figured it out by now, but you are meant to point it to the modding api which is just in the games installation folder, not mod folder

Thank you for this video. I've always just downloaded mods manually and have multiple mod folders for my different save files. I'll give this a try, it looks like it would be much easier to keep everything organized and when starting a new save with different mods.

Okay, so this may be a dumb question, But once I make mod profiles on Stardrop, how do I run the load game I want to play with that mod profile? like, I have one save file that I want to play with all of my mods from my default folder, but other save files I just want the few mods in my other profiles to load. Does this make sense?

i know this is waaay late. Your video is super duper helpful for a newbie like me! I'd just like to ask how did you get that configuration column? In my updated version of stardrop, i cant seem to find the config column, it jumps from version to status :(

I know this is an older video, but if I open SMAPI into Stardew from Stardrop, but SMAPI is the only one registered to run from Steam; will I still earn achievements and the like from completing in-game activities if opened from Stardrop? Additional question through Edit: Can I apply a mod profile to an existing save? I'm wanting to try using Ridgeside Valley in Singleplayer with a new profile; but I obviously don't want it for my multiplayer file that wasn't started with it for obvious reasons. Will I be able to create a mod profile of the existing mods to the multiplayer file; then download RSV and keep it disabled for the Multiplayer file?

@@MangoPlaysGames i figured out it is due to the path system of stardrop not working properly. It only works when placing all folders inside the stardew valley steam folder. Using the default path stardrop gave me did not work.

No worries 😊 I just tested it and you can, Stardrop even recognises the change - so looks like updating mods will work too. If you install mods via Stardrop, it will put it in the top level folder though - so you will have to move them after. I can not confirm if updating mods work fully as I have no mods that are out of date - so let us know if you do use the folders for grouping mods 👍

Sorry if it didn't come across well enough for you. The great thing about stardrop is that it is not installed via an installer. It is as simple as downloading the zipped file and unzipping it, then double click the exe file. It runs from there, you can add it as a shortcut to your start menu or a shortcut to your desktop or do as I have which is adjust the launch options of steam. So every time I launch Stardew from steam it launches Stardrop. I show this in the video. However in my description is the gitbook guide for Stardrop, I hope that can fill the gaps that my video left for you. 👍👍👍

@@MangoPlaysGames Steam keeps saying that it can't find the path I put in to launch the game. I used the "copy as path" command that comes up from right clicking to try and create the path. I can't figure out where it's going wrong. I've tried with the Stardrop folder and the Stardrop app both of which are on my desktop. I'm brand new to modding. Just started PC gaming like 3 months ago with Stardew Valley as my first game. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just trying to follow instructions as much as I can with less than a minimum understanding of what I'm doing. I'm on an All in One with a windows operating system. I don't know if that makes any kind of difference.

If you mean from Nexus Mods, download the manual version. You don't want to use Vortex to use Stardrop. Stardrop replaces Vortex. I hope I understood your question correctly, let me know if I misunderstood 💜🤗

Sorry for they delay. If you used the installer for SMAPI it would be in the game location for Stardew Valley - if your install of Stardew Valley is not in the default location (normally C drive, on Windows) and you did not update SMAPI's location in the installer window then SMAPI maybe installed in the wrong location. I have made an assumption you are using Windows stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows if not, then select your operating system on this page stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_SMAPI for additional information on how to install SMAPI. I hope this helped.

You don't need to add it as a non steam game, although that would launch it. If you adjust the launch options on Steam for Stardew Valley, it will launch stardrop 👍 I don't know how to help you further to be fair. I do show in the video where and the link above is a written guide.

Hi, Stardrop is the only mod manager that I recommend for Stardew Valley. However, it feels strange as a windows user, when you run the exe file - it launches the program, you do not need to "install" in the conventional sense, just unzip the download and move the folder to where you want to launch the program from, then double click on the stardrop.exe file. If it still doesn't work - I recommend you look after your mods manually (the next video in the playlist), as other mod managers will cause issues with mods for Stardew Valley, in my experience.

OMIGOD...I understand now why "Mango" wanted me to see this. WHEN WAS SOMEBODY going to tell me this? you mean all this time I have been struggling and sweating to finally fix my mods...[ have only been playing and involved in the STardew World for 10 months ] and THIS EXISTED. I'm on mac and when clicked the download link it gave me a zip file and i unzipped it. now i just see a folder that says "Stardrop" and inside the folder i see "i18n, internal, internal.pdb, stardrop.sh, and themes". i don't know much about computers so i am not really sure what i am doing wrong but i would really love to figure it out because my goal is to have a different mod profile for my multiplayer save!
