Jimmy, by putting the backing in first and then gluing it you will cause the fabric to scrunch up if the tension is not set correctly. the best way, and I have done this for many years is to, put material on first, then put the backing on underneath, and then put the hop on. No need for a glue stick. Once the hoop is attached nothing will move, plus think of the dollars you will save on glue stick. One thing you forgot to mention, once your item is in the hoop, don't stretch it to make it look better. Your end product will look like crap. Good luck, and may the force be with you.

Can you do regular sewing on the janome 500e? Or is it strictly embroidery? And can I freehand quilt?
