Thank you for the helpful tips! I've been just spraying it straight out of the bottle but it clogs up my airbrush and is expensive and isn't as good of a paint job. And I would recommend using a water bottle and double sided tape to hold your model! haha 🤣

You can also add a tiny drip of Japan Drier to your enamel for faster drying. The sign painters and pinstripers secret. 😉 One little bottle of Japan Drier will last years.

Get a regulator/moisture trap from Harbor Freight, and mount it to your bench right beside where you sit. Then you can dial the pressure back to 20-25 lbs or so. Like you, I use my shop compressor for multiple tasks. The bench mounted regulator is a life saver when you’re in the middle of an airbrush task at the bench.

Actually have two Regulators on my compressor I just honestly didn't bother to turn them down where I would normally have them. I don't use a water trap due to the fact that our humidity here in Salt Lake is usually very low.

I enjoyed your video👍🏻 I didn’t know about sprue goo. Learn something new everyday. I’m no expert but I build models like cars and airplanes the best I can and really take the time to detail and make it nice then I let my 5yr old nephew play with them. He has so much fun with them they come back in pieces and then I rebuild them and learn new tricks a long the way 🤣 They actually still look pretty good as the enamel paint it really strong 😂 I actually used that little brush we see most often associated with modeling and didn’t thin the paint 😂 but using good one direction passes with the brush it actually laid down flat enough to show detail and no brush marks and was dry in 24 hrs in the house with AC. I’m going to try and thin the paint a little next time and I have a sprayer on the way. Gotta keep the kiddo busy imagining while playing with all these cool models.

@@KikoValleyMan Thank you for watching.And thank you for taking the time to comment. I found that I used that spru goo a lot more. Then you might think anytime I put any project together that has any kind of a gap or seem, I use it and it works very, very well. Particularly on the figures that I build.

No respirator, no exhaust fan, no spray booth no regulater on compresser, minimalist painting at it's best.

Yeah quite honestly I've never used any of that stuff. My studio is outdoors and has a large barn door just to the left of where I work so I don't worry much about air circulation. Sometimes in the summer I will kick over my large box fan so that the fumes don't congregate but get moved on. And honestly back when I was spraying cars for real I never had access to a spray booth so I either did it in garages or Outdoors. My compressor does have a regulator but, I don't always use it because with my dual action airbrush the pressure is really controlled right at my fingertips. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. This is by no means my preferred way to spray butt there are a lot of guys out there who will find this an inexpensive alternative to some of the other paints on the market.

The “2011” printed on the bottle doesnt neccessarily mean when it was made, that could also be the year the patend was put on for that color or even the label Awesome video btw, im pretty new to airbrushing so i like finding these kind of videos, thanks👍🏽

And that's really why I did this tutorial. When you buy some of these other pains they go down so well and they're really nice but at 12 to $15 a bottle it makes it a bit expensive. Everybody has these laying around and even if you don't you can pick him up really cheap and it doesn't take a whole bottle to do a car body. Of course I picked the hardest possible color in gloss black! LOL but you'll see a video I did a couple years ago about the Starsky and Hutch to Reno that I sprayed with the red that testers makes as well.

Also if you build airliners at all this is a great way to paint that glossy finish on your airliners and have great results.

My studio is actually Outdoors it is very well ventilated as I have a barn door sitting about four feet away from me that is always open when I spray. If I feel there's too much build-up of fumes I just kick on the fan that I have in there. But for the most part I don't have to worry about that.

Your air brush is surgical . Great results through your application and ratios of mix. I cant imagine getting same results with a rattle can.I know this sounds stupid,but why would someone dissolve the factory chrome? Ok,I asked..
@maddogmerv
@maddogmerv Жыл бұрын
Well for this particular build the car had pretty much know Chrome on it so all the Chrome needed to be stripped down so it can be painted black. You could paint the black over the Chrome but it wouldn't look the same

Know my studio is outdoors and it is well-ventilated already so I don't worry about the fumes. I do have a fan I can kick on if they start to build up but for the most part they dispersed pretty quickly throughout the studio.

What is the best compressor and airbrush gun kit would you recommend for a beginner?
@maddogmerv
@maddogmerv 8 ай бұрын
Well it depends on a couple of things. First off the easier it is to use the more likely it is you are to use it and the last tear down and maintenance it requires the easier it will be to use. With that said I used and Iwata Revolution CR. So far it has lasted me nearly 20 years and all I ever do is a good cleaning every so often. I have not had to replace any parts in that time. It is a dual action and super easy to use. The other thing that is important is a compressor that will suit your needs. There are several small portable compressors on the market that will work just fine and give you the pressure you need. I personally use a larger compressor because I use it for more than just my airbrush. I have painted my truck and a couple of cars using the compressor that I have in my studio. But mine is loud and wouldn't be well-suited for most homes or apartments probably 15 years ago I bought a testers portable compressor that I believe I have shown in some of my videos where I go over what tools I use. If you get a cheap airbrush and a cheap compressor chances are you will have problems and that will cause frustration leading to not wanting to airbrush. There's a company called Grex that turns out a nice airbrush and compressor set that would be suitable for a beginner but I much preferred the simple setup I have. Good luck in getting what you're looking for, hopefully you can get a high-quality easy-to-use durable setup for under $250

So I was just looking through my videos to try and find a link for the video I'm thinking about and I can't seem to find it so, on Christmas day I will be putting out a show called what's in the box and on this show I will be going through my portable kit that I use when I go on trips or when I need to take my supplies on the go. I'm sure you will find it helpful and I have my compressor and airbrush in there so you will be able to see them. Again that will be on Christmas day so tune in
