Using the Fusion Technique to Repot Bald Cypress Seedlings for Bonsai

The fusion technique is simply taking multiple seedlings and planting them together in a circular group so that as they grow the trunks will fuse together forming a tree with a much larger diameter than if the trees had been grown as single specimens. Nice! How long do you figure it will take for fusing to occur? LOL, Asked before you answered in video.

I'm hoping that just this next growing season is going to get them very close. I leaning very much to giving them ALL bigger pots or in the ground since why would I not want to get them to fuse as quickly as possible. Stay turned, it's going to be interesting since I've never done this before either!

How long did you let them grow in the seed tray for

The seed was planted last winter so they're one year old. Once I planted the seed I just let them grow as tall as they wanted. This is the first time I've done anything with them other than water and fertilizer.

@ how often do you fertilize and is a 13-13-13 good?

@@ElGancho08 I cant' tell you how often I fertilize because I use a wide range of different types. Sometimes I use liquid, sometimes soluble, sometimes granular, sometimes slow release pellets and all will last for different lengths of time. It also depends on the type of tree, how old it is, how large it is, how quickly it's growing and on and on. I usually give young trees in training more and older finished bonsai less. There are just too many variables. My advice would be to try different types and see what results you get and go from there. The 13-13-13 is a good all purpose balanced fertilizer.
