I started the Grind Style Method to make calisthenics more effective for building muscle and strength. The Grind Style Method can be used to make any strength training modality safer and more effective.
This video shows how to apply Grind Style to classic weight-lifting tools like machines and free weights.

Do a barbell and machine training demo for legs (grind style approach) Matt this really surprised me seeing you lift weights (barbells and machine) I actually tear up a bit from excitement.

That keeps happening to a lot of videos I watch, I feel like sometimes you tube itself screws with it. Sometimes if I re watch things the other videos DO show up. So strange.

I was doing shrimp squats with poor stability and ended up tweaking the glute medius in a way that needed almost a year of rehab work. I shifted to split squats with the grind style approach after that to work on the strength while giving myself the stability to focus on proper form and engagement. I did that almost two years ago and it worked great. These days most of my upper body work is calisthenics but my lower body work is weighted to have better carryover to lifting and moving things in daily life, like squatting to lap a big rock and carry it across my property to where I'm building a fire pit.
