Nicky! Am I glad I found your channel!! I played piano growing up. In my teenage years, I was enamored with fabulous organ sounds in Rock 'n Roll. I've picked up an IK Multi.... iRigKeys 49 and their B3- VST and became enthralled with the sounds. Yeah, it's not the same at all as a B or C3 but for me it's great. Your channel has been a gold mine for learning how to make those types of sound. Bravo! It's great gigging again. Yeah, I'm sure it won't be long till I break some of those plastic keys on my iRig doing those scoops. hahaha

If you'd be able to remove the key click (with clones you can try that) the organ will lose its entire presence and attack. I know that people (especially in the early days) regarded the wear on the key contacts as one of the old Hammond's issues but in fact it improves the sound a lot. Key click is very essential! Nice video!

Love that key clicks. Pipe organs don't have that, but Hammond organists enjoy the effect :-)

What about using the left hand to do little ghost notes/grace notes here and there? It's something I see a lot and I think it's called "slap" but I can't find any demonstration of it. Seems like an integration of the percussive technique you show with ordinary playing

Absolutely. In fact I had watched Jon do this all over the place and it was only when I heard the break in Hush that I worked out exactly how he was doing it. In this example I do a couple of different rhythms but one of them is lifted directly of that break in Hush. Well spotted!
