I have the Daruma brand yarn twister that looks just like this, but pink. The yarn guide at the bottom is used when you just want to wind a cake and not twist multiple strands together.

@@CSMLove i have a couple heavy duty "banding wheels" for ceramics i've thought about, and a potters wheel that will travel in reverse...studio/maker's space is too tight try them though...;) hth, Karen!...Richard

I have the very similar pink Dharma yarn twister and I've seen a suggestion that the wound twisted ball be run through the twister a second time, but I haven't tried it yet, nor the suggestion that one could twist 2[or 3] thin yarns into 2 balls, then twist the two balls again. I may spend some time testing these.

Winding it multiple times does continue to twist it. I'm a machine knitter and the more twists the easier to knit by machine.

@@billbennett6982 I was wondering about that. Thanks for your comment. I just start to machine knit. A steep learning curve even for experienced hand knitter. But learning is fun.
