Hello Gustavo. I apologize, but I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking. If you’re asking if you can use this MicSig ATO to look at the EVAP vent solenoid control circuit; the answer is yes. You can use this to see the waveform of any electrical circuit on the vehicle (or most other electrical circuits). You can see the waveform for the power, ground, signal, frequency, etc. I hope this answers your question. If not, let me know, and I’ll try again. Thanks for watching and for the comment. I also have other videos using this scope, on my channel.

Hey there The Smart Guy. Yeah. I saw that a couple weeks ago. Glad they finally did it. About 2 years ago, I suggested to Micsig, that they should combine the ATO & STO to make an ATO with the knobs and buttons on the side. I bet it’s a nice little scope.

All began when I connected CH1 to AUX OUT CH with P130A probe. Everything works as it should now except this noise

Hello ram40andy. First off, I apologize for just now responding to your comment. I never got the notification, and just now saw it. I’m sure by now you have probably contacted Micsig. Incase you haven’t: I believe that is normal for the scope. I know sometimes I hear the same thing. I don’t have my scope in front of me at the moment, but tomorrow I’ll try to remember to run it through the condition you mentioned and confirm whether mine does it or not.

Ok, so on mine; it makes the clicking (solenoid) sound on channels 1,3,&4 switching between 2&5 volts. That is in either order from 5 to 2 or 2 to 5. Also, channel two seems to do it from 200mv to 500mv, and 500mv to 200 mv. So now I checked my brand new SATO 1004 (Micsig new automotive scope), and it did just like yours making a clicking sound on all four channels switching between 200 mV and 500 mV in either direction. So I’d say you have nothing to worry about my friend. Keep on trucking on. I hope this puts you at ease.

Love the videos, been looking at scope options for awhile now, with this one being on my list. Just received mine, haven't even brought it to work yet, just messing around at the house. Wonder if you could help with a couple questions, I know you can record a video, but does it also keep the waveform in memory? Like, let it run for a couple minutes and being able to back up and see it all, I would think it must, but can figure it out. Second, zooming in, can you zoom like the pico? I know they're is a zoom button, but that's not the same or as detailed. In the quick start guide,.it says to double tap on the waveform to zoom, can't get it to do anything.

@@atomsworkshop195 ok, used it today at work, double tap to zoom worked🤷‍♂️. One other thing beyond being able to rewind the wave form. I saw, in a comment I believe, that you also had the pico amp clamps, any particular setting that should be used with them?
@atomsworkshop195
@atomsworkshop195 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Lewis, glad you got the double tap zoom working. I usually tap the time base to zoom into the waveform. As for looking back at the waveform, I usually use one of two ways. Sometimes I set the time base to a higher number, like 2-5 seconds or so. This is good if you have to, say crank the engine over a few times (by yourself), then walk back over to the scope, pause it, then look at the waveform; and zoom in as needed. Also, if you’re at a lower time base (milliseconds, microseconds, or nanoseconds), you can change your memory depth and sample rate (I think that’s what it’s called). You can check out my video called “Micsig STO1104E Oscilloscope CAN Hi & CAN Lo”, skip to about 4.11 in the video, and you can see how you can pause it, then scroll back through the waveform so many screens/pages. Then you can zoom in as needed. Just go to top menu, click user set, then depth. I believe it’s the same on the STO & ATO. Well different numbers; but I believe the one just to the right of “auto” gives the most memory, which allows you to look further back in the waveform. I hope this helps with what you asked me about. I don’t have my scope in front of me at the moment, so I’m just going off memory.

@@atomsworkshop195 thank you sir, I will check out that part in the video you linked. Have you used the pico amp clamps with it? I saw it had some presets for current, says cp60 and cp650, specific models? I assume. Was there a specific setup for the Pico's, I've got the 60 and 600 amp models
@atomsworkshop195
@atomsworkshop195 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Lewis, yea I believe I have the same two Pico clamps that you have. I have used them. I remember comparing the Pico 60 with the Micsig CP2100, and the waveforms were identical. As for which attenuation setting to choose? I honestly can’t remember at the moment. I was always having trouble remembering, so I wrote it down somewhere. Unfortunately I’m at the vet with my dog at the moment. But I’ll be honest with you. Just about every time I use an amp clamp, Pico or Micsig, I always use this little “Bside” amp clamp/ multi meter, to get a reading, then choose my attenuation on my scope that puts me at the same measurement. I don’t know why my brain just can’t seem to remember which option for each amp clamp, but it is something I’ve seemed to struggle with. If I remember correctly, someone else asked me this in the comments, and after testing, I told him which to click on for each one. Only, I’m not sure under which video, he asked me this. I’ll scan through the comments and see if I can find it, while I’m sitting here waiting for my dog to come out. Sorry I can’t be of more help at the moment. Maybe I can make a video showing exactly that. “What settings to choose for each amp clamp and each option on each amp clamp” (say that 3 times fast, lol). Thanks for the idea Dave.

@calebdean30
@calebdean30 4 жыл бұрын
When you set time based cursors does it have a setting like the picoscope to set 720 degrees? Then you can measure degrees from top dead center off cam and crank signals. Ive been looking into getting one of these and maybe aome advice from you is what I need. Also does it have pre made settings for low and high amp clamps as well as paddle probes for ignition coil on plug?
@atomsworkshop195
@atomsworkshop195 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Caleb. Yes it does have curses for degrees. If you notice on the video, at 1:36 (when I select the horizontal cursor); to the right is the vertical cursor, then to the right of that (far right side) it says 360* (degrees). When you click on the 360, it brings up options to choose the number of cylinders 1-12, and degrees of angle 1 degree to 1800 degrees. Then press ok, and the cursors run vertically (up and down) across the screen in orange, with the numbers on the top of the screen (next to each line) from left to right. Example: if you choose 720 degrees, on the top from left to right will show 0 120 240 360 480 600 & 720 next to each line. When you first turn the option on, it seems to spread out evenly across the screen, but at any time you can adjust it however you want, like squeeze it closer together or move it to the left or right side of the screen. As for the current probes and ignition paddle. When you click on the channel button (1-4) on the right of the screen, it opens a window for that channel. On the top of the window there are 3 options. From left to right are, Voltage, Current, and Pressure. Under each one are multiple different options (probably too many to list right here). Exampl: under voltage you can choose bnc banana, secondary ignition, or p130a (10 to 1 proves that come with the scope). Then you can choose 1x 10x 20x etc up to 10kx. Also filter, signal (ac or dc), and sample (normal or peak). Under current, you can choose cp 60 1mv/1ma, cp 60 1mv/10ma, cp 650 1 mv/10ma, and cp 650 1mv/100ma. Also all the other options that I listed under voltage. Under pressure you have MPa~MPa (where you can type in the number you want), and V~V (where you can also type in the numbers you want. Also, the filter, signal, and sample options. I hope all this helps you out. Sorry if it’s a little hard to follow, but I haven’t had dinner yet, lol. If you want, I can make a quick video tomorrow showing you all this. I’m sure that would answer your questions better. All in all I thinks it’s a nice scope, especially for the price. Believe me when I tell you, I read every review and watched every video I could find about it over about a year before I finally decided on it. So far I really like it. I do wish the leads were longer. I just bought some Pico 3 meter color coated (to match the traces on the screens) premium test leads from AESwave. They are proud of them at $180 though. I’ll make a couple video using the low and high amp clamps. Also, the ignition paddle probe. I hope this helps.

Yea, I hear you about the Pico. I think where the Pico really shines is the online waveform library, and to my knowledge you can’t access it without a Pico. Well, we can save waveforms with the Micsig, so we just need to share them with other Micsig owners. Maybe MicSig could start an online library too. Thanks Caleb.

Hello Caleb. Just wanted to let you know that I added a video “looking at ignition waveforms with the Pico secondary probe on the Micsig oscilloscope”. I’m telling you, because at the end of the video I showed the 360/720 degree cursor you asked about. I’m not plugged into cam and crank sensors, but it gives you an idea. I did have a video doing just that but lost it and a handful of other videos. Won’t get into what happened other than I lost all my new recordings. That’s why I haven’t posted any lately. I guess I got discouraged after that. Anyway, I’ll have more coming. Thanks again. Oh yea, I think I mentioned your name in the recent video. Hello karu chvz, how are you? From what I understand, and have seen, Yes you can use a scope, including the Micsig to help you diagnose a blown head gasket. I personally haven’t gotten into doing that yet. From what I’ve seen, you need a pulse sensor (that I do not have yet). Once we close on this property and move, I plan on building one; though I would prefer the Pico WPS500 (I think it’s called), however it’s expensive. If you want to learn how to do it, just type “using a scope (oscilloscope) to diagnose a blow head gasket”, into KZbin and there will be a list of videos to look at. I would recommend Super Mario Diagnostics and South Main Auto. That’s just a couple I can remember that made videos of doing that. I plan on making more videos with the Micsig after we move and get settled in (this month). Good luck my friend.

To be honest, it was your video doing the primary ignition with the Micsig, that made me feel comfortable doing the same without an attenuator. I did the math and knew it should be ok, but I definitely felt better about it after seeing you do it first. Thanks for that. No one wants to blow up their new scope. @atomsworkshop195
@atomsworkshop195 4 жыл бұрын
Hello OvalWingNut. I’ll give you that. Well half of what you said anyway. Did I diagnose the map sensor? Power, ground, signal, circuit integrity? No, you’re right about that. With that said, if you listen to the videos on my channel, you’ll know that the whole reason I’m making these videos, is to one, show you some of the things you can do with this scope, and two, show you how to set it up for some of the different tests. The reason I started doing this was because when I was on the fence of which scope to buy (in my budget) there wasn’t any (many) videos that actually showed the ATO1104 actually is use connected to a vehicle, or how to use it. Did Micsig send me this scope for free or are they paying me to make these videos? Absolutely Not (though I would not be opposed to them or anyone else giving me money in the future, just saying). I bought this scope off of Amazon. After tax it came to $811.86. I’m sure my wife would gladly “complain” for an hour about how much I spent on it, should you give her the opportunity, lol. I wish I could post a picture of my online receipt on here, but as far as I know I can’t leave pictures in the comments. I’ll try and post a picture where I would make a video, so look for that. So No, I wouldn’t change the name to “Selling a Micsig “. I just want people to know that this is a great scope, and that if you can’t afford a Pico, there are other options. In fact, even if I had a Pico, I think I would still use this one most of the time. I do mobile diagnostics, and I like the fact that I don’t need a to make sure I have a laptop charged up. All I have to worry about is charging my Micsig the night before, and I’m good to go. Also, I like the interface, and how easy it is to use. Even a big dummy like me can use it, lol. Anyhow, OvalWingNut, thanks for the comment. I can admit when I’m wrong, so I think I will change the title to something like, “looking at the Map Sensor on the ATO1104”. Oh yea, thanks for the thumbs up. I respect that. Someone that can leave some constructive criticism, but still leave a thumbs up. You seem like a stand up guy. If you have videos on your channel, I’ll check them out. Thanks again for stopping by my channel, and feel free to leave any comments in the future. Hey Dennis. You’re probably a bot, but just Incase you’re not, here’s a short and to the point opinion. My honest thoughts are, I think it’s a great scope. It’s been able to do everything I’ve needed it to do. It doesn’t have all the options that the Pico automotive scopes have, such as a waveform library, but you also pay a lot less. Dennis De Zordo , I looked at some hanteks before I found the Micsig. I like the Micsig because I don’t need a laptop, and I like the general layout of the screen. I also went with the ATO1104 “automotive” scope, so I would have the automotive presets. It did add to the price, but was worth it to me. I really don’t have any complaints, other than the leads could be longer. I fixed that with the 4 pack of Pico’s 3 meter colored (yellow, blue, red, and green) leads. They were pricy at around $187, but they’re really nice leads. You can find them and all your other scope accessories at either AESwave or AutoNerdz. I bought everything I needed between both of them. The Pico is a great scope that I I would love to add to the arsenal, but until they come down on price, or my situation changes, I’ll go without. Heck, I’m sure I’d still use my Micsig even if I did have a Pico, because of its ease of use. Just turn it on and attach a lead or other accessory. Another KZbin channel that has some videos of it in action in the automotive word is Super Mario Diagnostics. You have to go back about 11-12 months in his videos to see it, because he eventually sold his to his brother and bought a Pico. He sad his was overheating or something. I personally have had that problem. Dave Sterl has a couple few videos. Also, Robinson’s Auto has a few. Anyway, I like my Micsig so far and think it’s a great scope. I I ever do go to another one in the future, as of right now, I could only see the Pico Automotive scope as an option. And I’m not referring to the Pico 2000 series. It would have to be a 4000 series. But like I said, they are proud of them, for they are pricey. What’s that saying? Something like, when you you buy it, you only have to cry once? Lastly, did you try their sales email on their website? I know before I bought mine, I emailed them with some questions, and they responded within 24 hrs. I had a question I emailed them about a month ago, and it was a slow response. When he did respond, he apologized, and mentioned how they were out of the office because of the whole Corona virus thing. Anyway, thanks for checking out my channel, and I wish you luck in your purchase. I know it’s a big decision, if you’re like me and not mad at your money.
