actually the keyboard shortcuts don't all work for me sometimes (?). but i found that command+option+left/right moves between tabs and command+option+up/down moves between tab groups. which is actually much better than the shortcuts you see in the menu as you can keep fingers on the option+command.

Safari 15.4 has the tabs below favorites if that is showing, which I like. However, I cannot get Safari to stop replacing a tab automatically when I click on a web address or favorite. I was able to get it to stop doing this for one day and it's back to replacing tabs again. I have a tab open, I click on something else, and I have two tabs now... then a third and the second is replaced. I never had to deal with whether I was doing Command T. It used to just keep opening tabs without even thinking about it. What is the setting ... I can't add more than two tabs. And, in fact, I was watching the grouping and if I have that sidebar open, I can only have one tab open. PS I'm on a MacMini, a 27" monitor and a keyboard and mouse. Don't do trackpads, don't do laptops. I can't ever imagine having to do actual work on a laptop. Swiping, even with the iPad and iPhone, makes me nuts. And, it appears this is a NON-PRIVATE WINDOW thing. If you have private set, none of this apparently works. Thanks, however, for the overview. There are just the usual asterisks and footnotes and exclusions.

@macmost3 жыл бұрын
If the tabs are gone, they are gone. Best to never to rely on tabs to "save" web pages permanently. If you create folders of bookmarks, you can open all of the bookmarks in a single folder as tabs with one command. This would be useful to restore a set of tabs even if you close the whole browser window.

Tab groups are just a way to break up a long list of tabs. So before you had 20 tabs together, not you can have 6, 4, 5 and 5 in groups. They aren't like bookmarks that will stay as when you close a tab, just like before, it is gone. A bookmark stays there for you to access days or months later.
