Great video! Been using a D750 since 2017. It’s an awesome camera, and nothing gets my creative juices flowing like looking through the camera lens. Hope it never dies.

for us who are strictly stills photographers and video being very low on the priority list, DSLRs are the most economic and efficient cameras to own. I spent thousands over the last decade with mirrorless gear thinking I would be one of those pretentious "hybrid" creators, turns out I really don't care about video and my passion still lays in Photography. Yes Mirrorless are great for stills but the return on investment is WAY higher than buying DSLRs, and quite frankly there are many serious upsides to using DSLRs over Mirrorless cameras for photography

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments....I still use my D500 & as a hobbyist I probably won't upgrade to mirrorless gear for my photography.... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊

Thanks for watching! The D500 is still a great camera. I hope it serves you well for a long time.

still heavily using a D750 in 2024. it might be a decade old but it can seriously still hold its own. I've put over 2 million clicks across 6 different 750 bodies with zero failures. it just gets the shot everytime. and until last year its held its own in value as it could still be sold used for 700-1200 US.

Great to hear from another D750 user. The re-sell value dropped by quite a bit here in the UK, which is great for anyone looking to purchase one, but disappointing for me if I trade it in.

the Z8 and Zf are mostly to blame for that I think - alot of 750 users waiting to either save up for something greater or supplement/replace with new - still rocking a 750 and 850 along with 610s as my work kit. and unironically wanting to switch the personal kit to a Zf lol @@LeeGale

The Z8 and Zf are great options for upgrading to mirrorless, but the D850 will be my next upgrade before inevitably going mirrorless at some point.

been using the D850 for well over 2 years now and its the best all around camera I've ever used. its got the feel/build/legacy vibes of a D700 with nearly the firepower of a D500 and the imaging quality of a Z7II and the best right hand control layout i've ever had in my hands. @@LeeGale

I agree with all of your points about the D750. I have a D750 and love using it for portraits and other creative stills. The video side of it, like you say, is wonky and unreliable. I recently upgraded to the Fujifilm XH2s mostly for video work but find myself using it for stills most of the time now. While it is a crop sensor APSC, when pixel peeping between it and the D750 the pictures are about the same (except, of course, for the tighter field of view from the smaller sensor). The film simulations on the Fujifilm are a time-saver if you don't want to spend the time processing RAW files. You can even shoot in RAW with the Fuji and process those files with the Fuji software to convert to their amazing film simulations (I think Lightroom does that, too but I use Affinity Photo for all my other photo processing and editing work). While I'm mostly using the Fujifilm camera now, I do not plan on getting rid of the D750 it is still a great camera for stills.

Great Video I'm still using the old D800 and have no intention of replacing it until I absolutely have to. DSLR are still relevant today. I enjoyed this.

Thanks for watching! The D800 is still such a good camera for its age. I'm looking at the D850, but I would definitely still shoot with the D800.

The d750 was one camera I skipped having both the d600 and d800, but that period of Nikon dslrs produced some great cameras. Appreciate the shoutout, mate. I’ll get that 5D to you 🖖😁

I have the D5500 and for what I need it does the job. Thought of getting a Z6 but the change to Z glass would be quite a significant investment for a hobbyist. And with an adapter for the DX lenses it defeats the purpose of a full frame to still shoot cropped and lose half the megapixels in the process. Would like to do more sport/action/aviation/pet photography in the future so considering a D500, seems like great value for money. Great videos, keep it up🤙🤙

Hi there, I came across your channel and I'm glad I did, it makes a refreshing change to hear a photographer on you that isn't spurting on about their latest camera that costs the price of a small used car or even worse a camera that they have been "given" by the manufacturers to "try out" , b@&?@rds!!!!, yes I'm jealous but I also live in the real world. So to hear you talking about the nikon D750 was great, I will be subscribing to your channel with anticipation and putting up with the others 👍

Great video. Been using the D750 exclusively since 2019 with great results (image quality is hard to match). The only downside for me is that WMU seems a bit slow and outdated in terms of UI. When I'm shooting at an event and have to deliver edited material right away, at times it takes ages to load a larger number of RAW files, and sometimes it even crashes and I have to reload. Also, I'm starting to feel like I could use a better autofocus system in live view for small venue concerts and night club events.
@LeeGale5 ай бұрын
I've also had mine since 2019 and very happy with the image quality. I agree with you about the WMU app. I use it a lot and it works perfectly fine for what I do. I never really use it for large amounts of files, but on the occasions when I have, it does slow down.

Buying a D-series FX Nikon camera is a really good idea as they have motors in the body so you can use all Nikon F-mount lenses on the second hand market. Some AF-D glass is still very nice or has character. My advice: - You like photography as an art: buy a second-hand DSLR and collect Glass - You want nice pictures in versatile situations: buy an iPhone 15 - You're a (semi)-professional photographer: buy the latest mirrorless camera and a 24-70 f2.8 lens It's clear that DX cameras and cheap mirrorless cameras have been replaced by cell phones, which are remarkably good value for money.

I agree with what you're saying. My usual advise to people is to simply purchase within you budget and requirements.

Actually who really cares how old anything is? Reality is this. Sensors have plateaued. You are buying control differences and AF performance etc. DSLRs and Mirrorless get it done. I have a Canon 1DX and 2 Sony a7iii cameras I use for my church event captures. They work great. Focus fast, low light performance is just fine, battery life is awesome. I paid a fraction of new retail because I buy used. All of my gear is used. The new retail for bodies is obscene. Lenses stay pricey but they never really go out of date unlike bodies. So I save more on bodies, put the money in glass. It is no surprise at all that CIPA shows camera sales are falling. People are getting smarter. Spending less on the body, if not buying at all and keeping what they have. A Nikon D7100, 7200, 750 and more keeps everyone happy just fine. Canon, and other makes too. KZbin is saturated with are old DSLRs still relevant in whatever this year is. Really a stupid question, and internet fodder. Of course they are. All you have to do is see your results as a user. Most never need new. Seen what you can do with a D700? Amazing camera. Canon 5D iii, likewise. Too many out there to tell, but the lesson is, it is never about the new kool-aid out there, or whether anyone on KZbin tells you if an older camera is any good in 2024, or 2050. It is you the user of the camera. Any camera in the last 20 years is competent enough for most people's needs. I have an Olympus E10 from 2000 that still delights me today. I don't need KZbin to tell me it's cool. So while these videos are entertaining, you the user just be honest with your needs, and wants. Buy wisely. Save a ton a money along the way. Photography is hyper expensive and it can really scare you fast. The camera here is bitchin. If it fits your needs great, if not there is one for sure new or used, Mirrorless, or DSLR, or Bridge Camera That is just for you.
@rauflahab3 ай бұрын
Well said! New mirrorless camera cost mostly down to R&D on the electronics and software, not much change on the hardware itself. Hence our money goes to pay the manhours instead of the material that we get. Manufacturers wanted to reduce cost and material usage but wanted to hire more and pay higher wages. That is the industries games

I don’t shoot video so DSLR cameras are perfect for me.

Asking a question if DSLRs are "still relevant" in 2024 is like asking "are combustion engines still relevant in 2024?". Seriously, if you need a still camera and a video camera in one, you go mirroless. If you need a still camera you'll be fine with DSLR. If you never shot with a DSLR before and went straight from a smartphone to mirroless, you definitely missed out on something, but it's not a problem, unless you subscribe to that stupid religion of consumerism and ridicule anything that's already 6 months old.
