THE BEST VIDEO ON HOW TO USE THE NEW SAMSUNG REMOTE. Sir, my old Samsung of 8 years finally started to fail. I purchased a new 4k Smart TV. Since I am not a techie at age 70, I had the store install the TV. They hooked everything up so that I could operate the TV via the DISH controller. Fine! Then while testing the channels I noticed that the fixed items on the screen were very sharp and clear, but the newscasters were somewhat blurred compared to my old TV. So, went to youtube to find that others had the same issue and the solution was to use the TV remote to go exploring through the settings. I looked for an instruction manual because as you pointed out in your video, the old big remote was discarded in favor of this tiny rectangula mass wieth fewer buttons. The installers did not go over the TV remote since I thought I would never have to use it. So, I looked around for the ususal big instruction manual that used to be provided and found only two thin pieces of paper, one for the TV and one for the remote that only gave vague descriptions of how to use either one. Sad. The first 5 videos on how to use the remote were too short and fast and only covered the basics. This mornng I found your video on how to use the rmote and it is OUTSTANDING!! You covered each button slowly and with great detail. THANK YOU, thank you, thank you, and thumbs up!

I like the solar battery charging on this remote, but its too small and difficult to operate in a darkened room. Can't tell you how many times I've used it upside down by accident.

This was a really good video! Being lazy, I just plugged in my Roku, since I already knew how to use it. March Madness required me to use KZbin tv app on the tv, (it does’t play nice with Roku). The rewind / backup & fast forward was what I was looking for. You gave really good info! I’m going to watch your video again when I have more time. Thanks for sharing!👍👍👍

Gwen, glad you came upon our site and video. With the absence of a keypad the way to enter numbers is by pressing the number button just below the power button. You may have to cycle through this button several times before you see the numbers listed across the bottom of screen. Not the best interface for entering numbers. The other option is to buy a regular Samsung remote. Hope this helps.

One of the most used buttons, the Last or Prev channel button is gone. That really sucks. There are no number buttons obviuosly so beside scrolling up or down through lots of channels taking time, you can try voice control but it only works half the time for me and it is all frustrating. And Im a tech guy. I would love to see a vid on how to pair a specific other Samsung remote that will work with this. But this was a great educational vid

If you hit the 123 button that will give you numbers. With people mostly using the guide or their apps the need for a dedicated keypad not as useful as it once was. Yet Samsung should have included both remotes for the price of the TVs.

I watch a lot of golf instruction on KZbin and also have the occasional need to rewind a segment of a program or movie I might be watching. I see no way to do that. I only see a Play/Pause button. How do I rewind? Thanks for any help!

For KZbin I believe pressing and holding the left side of ring will rewind. Sometimes you have to pause first and press up on the ring to engage a timeline before pressing left side of ring as with the Tablo app kzbin.info/www/bejne/apu3iYiHZbFkbas.

Streaming services pay lots of money to have such a visible button, so there is no way to change them. Same thing with the baked in apps that can not be uninstalled. Thanks for the question.

100% wish this was an option. I don't use them either and I'm constantly hitting them by accident since this remote is Rectangular I'm picking it up upsidedown all the time 😡 If can't remap them, I'm on to other channels to find out how to at least disable them

How did you get the remote to turn on and off the external receiver.

I used the HDMI ARC2 cable between receiver and TV. The cable allows devices to communicate thus turning on TV will also turn on receiver for audio. It is very nice when it works correctly. Works with Roku, Tablo and other devices.

The newer remote is certainly very different from previous models. I wish they would have included both remotes, as I have little faith in the solar charger and would have preferred standard batteries. You can purchase the older version from Samsung or Amazon for about $10. Search for samsung replacement tv remote.

Yeah you need the standard remote as well. In the UK we get two remotes with the TV's. The smart remote and a standard remote.

While you can get signal info by holding the center round button for off air channels, it does not work for Netflix. Of course Netflix does show if the program is HD or 4K at the start.

To access the numeric keypad press the 123 button on the upper left of remote. There you can use the left, right and enter to select numbers. It is not a very elegant solution.

My TV upgraded a few days ago so these instruction might be slightly different if you are still on the older software. Try selecting HOME from the remote. Cursor left>Settings>All Settings>Broadcasting>Audio Options>Preferred Language and pick your language and then go to Multi-track Sound and pick language. Hope this helps.

I'm troubleshooting my pos remote that powers the TV on and tells the TV I want to pair it but won't actually pair. I feel better after seeing this though since it has batteries and I don't have to charge it.

The new remote has a battery and won't need recharging if it gets enough light on it's solar panel. That is not the case in my darken den, so the TV will prompt to recharge the remote. I still prefer the old remote with AA or AAA batteries.

Thank you for the video - well explained and great examples. I recently got off of Comcast once and for all and went into the streaming world. We use FuboTV and with Comcast we lost a lot of functionality that we were used to. Showcasing the pause and rewind was exactly what I was looking for. Universal Remotes are either too expensive or not what I'm looking for. Decided to learn the remote that came with the TV and pray that it works. Unfortunately the optical protocol is for audio and not control of devices. You would need to use latest HDMI cable to support control between receiver and TV.

It could be the remote is not paired with TV. Press and hold the Return and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously. A message will appear on your TV screen showing the progress of the pairing process. After a few seconds, an icon of a remote and battery will appear, this indicates the pairing process is complete and the Smart Remote is ready to use.

I really thank you for this wonderful video - it was very detailed easy to understand and helpful. However, this remote is trash. Maybe I am crazy (yes I know I am), but I DO need all the fancy buttons. The more the better. I am not one who loves the embedded and difficult to smash buttons of this type of remote. I do not like my old roku and fire remotes either. I like the old DirecTV remote (actually the one from before Genie, but at least the Genie is mostly the same - the new Gemini one I have, along with the new Gemini system, is the worst thing ever created). I have terrible arthritis and buttons are a hardship when you really have to press hard or even if they are so sensitive that they do what they want regardless of what you press. LOL I like having the numbers, the FF/REW/REC/STOP etc (I have a dvr). I like to just have all the options. I am weird that way. These new fangled remotes make me an old lady and I really am not. I am pretty technologically savvy, so this makes me sad. At least you were kind enough to show the lil ins and outs and subtleties of the remote. I appreciate it. Sorry for the booklong response. I find in the time that I make and wait for a voice command response, I could have just hit the button. The 123 button gives you access to a combination of settings, number keypad and A, B, C, D. The last one is the same as the useless A, B, C, D buttons on the old remote.

While I initially didn't care for the remote, eventually with some time I got used to it. I don't think it is there best design effort. If you like the TV you can check online for an old school remote replacement.

The remote solar panel needs bright light to recharge. That light can come from the sun or a lamp. I just plug it in to a charger every month or so to insure it is always ready.

NO cfldriven, this is not A SIMPLE REMOTE THAT SAVES STEPS....Samsung + has channels in the 5,000 range.....there is NO keypad !!! That makes it very time consuming to and tedious to find a 4 digit channel !!!!!!!! Also, some of us do NOT want to give Bixby or Alexa all our viewing choices and every keystroke we make on the control, so this Voice Command is crap. I assumed, when I bought my S90D that I could speak a channel and the remote would respond by going to that channel WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR THOSE PRIVACY INTRUDERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like what you are looking for is a non-smart TV or you could refuse to log into the Samsung system and only be provided with minimal service. You can press the 123 button below the power button and that will allow you to enter a channel number, although I find the guide much quicker as it lets you filter. I do agree they harvest a lot of data just like YT, cellphones, stores, etc. Thank you for sharing.

@@bigred9428 Yes this is true for all smart TVs, and most smart devices like cellphones, computers, robotic vacuums, Alexia, Google, Apps, etc. I recall label to that effect on the Samsung box.

Thanks for telling us; this is helpful to me because I don't really care for this new remote. I do love the video and help from cfldriven, but I am glad to know I can use a better, older, and more intuitive remote. Sometimes newer isn't always better, even though they try to "improve" things.

To unmute either push down on the volume button or push it forward to raise the volume and thereby unmuting. Make sure some other remote (Roku) has not muted your system.

One way to recharge the phone is to expose it to sunlight or bright lamp, but a faster way is to use a USB C connector from a smartphone and plug it into the opening at the bottom of the remote. The mic opening will glow red to show it is charging. It will extinguish when charging is done.

It certainly can be frustrating when a device departs from what everyone is used to. Samsung in eliminating buttons, revised how the remote works and caused a lot of anguish. Like in Europe the TV should have included both remotes for US consumers.

In the US there is no built-in record function and thus no way to skip commercials. A DVR device like Tabloo kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHvKcpqrZpJnbNE would allow you to forward through commercials.

Bad remote... Wish this was an option to remap the dedicated app buttons I don't use. I'm constantly hitting them by accident since this remote is Rectangular I'm picking it up upsidedown all the time 😡 If can't remap them, I'm on to other channels to find out how to at least disable them

Bady, what's wrong with you, this is radio-remote, not IR-remot !!! It work even from other room, thrue the wall !!! Plus you forget, tnet VOLUME and CHANNEL buttons has third opcion, and for that you need pres and hold them (like MUTE, but hold them) !!! Please, make update this video, and please don't point the remote control at the TV, PLEASE !!! I don;t know, how you can't figure this so long time...

We have been so conditioned to push down on a button and Samsung decides to makes it a toggle up or down for volume on the same button you can push to mute. It will certainly take a while to get used to using this remote.

We all agree this remote sucks / and why Samsung didn’t try this out on the people first to see if it’s easy NOT frustratingly difficult and cheap will show a shift in what previously was a GREAT tv viewing experience choice for buying a Samsung device.
