I just found mine three days ago 😊 same identical thing except mine was in the wall . But the contractor left extra long wire just in case. He was super smart 🤓 👍. Great job and video. New Subscriber just because great content. Blessing 🙏💪

The Little Popper is my choice. I had a bad experience with the short pro about a year ago. It took too long to open and cost me a thermostat. I'm real careful where and how I use it. Never had a problem with the little popper.

I bought a 3amp circuit breaker like what you use in the Lennox rut etc. will try that if ever I need it

Nice video could show how to use short pro tool where did you connect it and how it’s working? Thanks
@angelt4186
@angelt4186 Жыл бұрын
You connect it in the place of the original fuse. When you see the blue light, BOOM, you've got a short. So, you must find it and repair it. The circuit has been automatically opened by the pro tool protecting the transformer. No blue light = all is good and you may place back the original 3 or 5 amp fuse. That's how it works in the nutshell. Hope that helps.

It's not just shorted to ground, it's literally IN the ground.

You got lucky didn’t have to pull a new wire. How do you like the short-pro. I used the lil- popper. I don’t think they had the short- pro back 10yrs ago when I retired. Good job

I keep and use them both. Only real difference is the light and the alligator clips , lil popper is in another bag.

@@myHVAClife I have read in some others comments before the the lil popper would allow the transformer to burn where as the short pro wouldn’t cause that to happen. I never had the lil popper do that to me just wondering what you have seen

@@jamesfitzsimmons381 use the 3amp popper, the 5amp is worthless. There is a reason some units have a 3 or 5 fuse. Using the 5 will be a risk but most shorts will always blow the 3.

Got to love when new units are installed, they will not check or replace the original thermostat wiring, if it's already there? How many times has a lawn guy or homeowner, accidentally hit or damaged the units or wiring with string trimmers or lawnmowers? My friend took out a condenser with his mower one day, had no insurance, of course? Cost him like an easy $1K? That exposed wire, would have not caused an issue, if it just didn't happen to be resting on a metal component of the unit, right? Keeping the area around the units outside, would have made maintenance easier and most likely, made identifying any potential issues, at the time of installs or repair? Nobody cares at these rentals and it shows? Great job, sir.

Liquid tight on a low voltage wire? Come on! That's 24-28V after all. Unless if you are in California and they flagged that wire as a Cancer Warning!!!

We run tstat wire in LT on all our installs, this was a property manager that paid someone else for a cheap job. We quoted to come back and do that, they have not yet approved! I will not hold my breath.

I have always ran the control wire thru LT from the foundation to the outdoor unit. It’s cheap insurance to do it and it looks so much better.
