I do think Giulio Dondi's version is worth checking out. It works with his own reentry script which simulates a fairly realistic reentry, inculding HUD!

While it might be interesting for a once off, the fact it requires a custom fork or FAR probably means it will be in it's own install. Plus, he probably will want to use his own reentry script because he knows how to set it up and work with it, and it's very sensitive to aerodynamics, so we will see.

Hi, just wanted to drop by a comment about the custom FAR fork, if people are interested. I just changed the FAR Wing Aerodynamic Module to make it overridable, which I need for my custom Shuttle aerodynamics module. This is purely an infrastructural change. The code in that fork is functionally the same as regular FAR, so if you use it it should yield the same results. However it does break CKAN compatibility because of course the source file is re-compiled, and moreover it's one minor version out of date.

anyone else having issues with missing shuttle parts (engine mount, payload bay, SRB stacks) would appreciate some advice !

All I can suggest is check that everything made it to the right folder. In GameData, you should have a folder called "SPACE_SHUTTLE_SYSTEM" and within that folder a Cabine, Empty, Fuselage, FX, Parts, Props, Spaces, Waterfall, and Wings folder as well as a bunch of files outside of those folders.

quick update; so far I've scanned through every issue article on the ODY shuttle github page and still have no luck, honestly this is really frustrating trying to navigate as all the folders within the "SPACE_SHUTTLE_SYSTEM" folder are there and still I am unable to locate the shuttle Cabin and Engine mount. I've even tried changing the file destination for the "cockpit.cfg" file and still have absolutely no change in the problem whatsoever. I appreciate that you aren't SpaceODY therefore cannot assist in every issue, however even they have no idea how they fixed it originally.

Hi, I've got a huge problem with your kOS script for Shuttle Launch, after my external tank is used the apoapsis varies from 400km to 1000km and periapsis is almost always in minus, the program stops also after external tank is empty. Program does not follow apoapsis and periapsis also. I'd be very glad if you'd help me.

The external tank should be left in an atmospheric trajectory which may sometimes be negative, but it shouldn't run to depletion nor should the apoapsis be that high. It this just the regular Shuttle mod as I used in this video or is there something different? What apoapsis and periapsis did you enter? The script is actually not great at hitting those anyway - something I will work on.

@@RaizSpace I think I've got the same shuttle mod as you (it has 3 different external tanks as yours), apoapsis and periapsis is 400000, I'll check everything again tommorow beacause I'm not entirely sure if I didn't write an additional 0 by a mistake. If I would do everything correct, do you think that may happen because of a mod? I use positive inclination like 45.5, maybe I should use negative like -45.5.

@@RaizSpace Yeah so it seems that without any payload everything goes perfect, but with payload +/- 16t (Unity module) the program starts messing up and apoapsis is too high, periapsis too low.

@@RaizSpace I lowered the mass of the shuttle and it's working better but not the same as before, at least I do not have apoapsis high up to the moon.

I didn't realize there was any problem with MechJeb in 1.12.5 - should be available on CKAN etc. If there's only a 1.12.3 version, that should work, too.

Where did you take the Shuttle textures from? I am pretty sure those are the hi-res textures that I made for the Space Shuttles (both Dave413 and SSU) in Orbiter Space Simulator

This is not my mod - it's been handed down from modder to modder for years. I have not had any part in managing it, though. I believe that this was originally derived from NASA's own Shuttle model from the NASA 3d model website: nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/shuttle-hi-res
