This was well done! You’re one of the few people I know that really uses Thousands Trails, I’ve seen a lot of people sell or dump memberships
@LivinRVision3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Very interesting, the Thousand Trails are typically very full everywhere we go. There are SO many different memberships and we do know that some people end up getting a membership that doesn’t fit their needs well sometimes. That’s why we strongly believe that it is imperative that you always talk to Kim at Campground Membership Outlet before buying. She will bring situations to your attention that you may not of thought of that can make all the difference. We’ve been very happy with our membership. The thing people sometimes don’t remember also is...when you get a membership, you don’t have to stay ONLY at TT resorts and campgrounds. Even staying half the year (if you are full time) will more than pay for itself. We still enjoy other campgrounds as well on occasion. Hope that helps. Happy Holidays! 😊🤓

The membership parks in FL are: Three Flags, Orlando, Peace River. (If someone has an upgraded, park to park membership) When the park is in high use, all members can stay for 14 nights versus 21 - can still go park to park - can have Two reservations on the books ahead of time, when parks are in high use - up to their 90, 120 or 180 in advance. Can book the 3rd reservation once you arrive night one of the first stay and it falls off the books It does not matter if someone has a zone pass, nationwide, platinum, platinum plus, elite or odyssey --- ALL members can have Two high use reservations booked ahead of time, and shortened length of stay - when 14 of the 81 membership parks are in high use
@LivinRVision3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kimmie! 🧡😊🤓 In case you have heard differently, Joel. There are a few rare memberships floating around out there where high use restrictions do NOT pertain to those certain memberships and they are able to book 21 nights in a high use restricted campground. As Kim says above, the majority do have to abide by the high use restrictions. For example, our membership was very different where we only have 3 parks that we have to abide by the high use restrictions. Luckily for us, none of them are at any of our favorite parks. Hope this all has helped. 😊🤓

With Thousand Trails, most memberships allows you to go park to park but there are some certain parks that limit during peak season, depending on which membership you have. If it were us, we would contact Kim at Campground Membership Outlet and she can explain the differences of all memberships better than most salespeople at Thousand Trails. We bought a preowned membership from Kim and we would still do the same if we were to do it all over again. She was extremely helpful.

Brian, we are new to thousand trails and just made a reservation for memorial day weekend. My question is how do you know what sight you're getting and if it will accommodate your rig. Without actually visiting the campground and seeing the layout it seems like quite a hit or miss proposition. Thanks
@LivinRVision7 ай бұрын
Typically with Thousand Trails you pick your site when you get there. They know by the size of your set up along with everyone else that has booked, whether or not they have enough sites to accommodate your size rig. We’ve never had an issue with that in the past 5 plus year, 2 with a 40’ Class A and tow car and 1 with a 33’ Airstream Classic and F250 and now, 2 plus year with a 24’ Class B.
@ronaldw.29233 жыл бұрын
Sometimes people leave Thousand Trails campgrounds early for various reasons. They like early departures, they have change of plans, or they had enough fun where they are at. Whatever the reason, getting to the campground at the earliest when rangrs are present wiil let you know what spaces are open and what spaces "will" open that day. You may have to do a little trolling around the campground but the reward may be great. And as always treat the rangers with great kindness and respect. They have a difficult job and they can be your best friend or worst enemy.
@LivinRVision3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct, especially if you find “the right” ranger. It’s like anything, it all depends on who’s working and what kind of day they are having. Lol Not everyone leaves early though, the majority does not from what we’ve seen over the last two years full time. You can still find a good spot early, but your chances “may” be better closer to check out time. That’s all I was explaining. Thanks for your input, it’s very much appreciated. 😊🤓

Getting a reservation at TT at 120 days is ok, but what about the trails collection at 60?. Is Encore and TT on the same system? Otherwise you could make a res with TT and then get a reservation with Encore for the same period and then cancel the TT? Depending on the area and time of year do you just take your chances on getting an Encore reservation at 60 days? I have read that Encore Resorts hold a limited number of reservations open for TT probably because of the lower rate. True? Thanks for the video. First video that showed the actual system.
@LivinRVision3 жыл бұрын
So first, yes they both are used on the same reservation system and you also can call directly to THOUSAND TRAILS to make reservations on both also. If you go back to the video I did explain what we do when making reservations, when we have to wait for the 60 days on an Encore reservation. That is the part where I talk about using that website to quickly calculate your date back 60 days. Then I make a reminder on my phone to make a reservation on that date. True, they do hold a certain number of spots for THOUSAND TRAILS members. You should not have any problems making a reservation at an Encore IF you be sure to make it right away on that 60th day. We have never once had any issues making our reservations (and getting them) in over two years now. That should be proof enough that there are no issues (and hopefully it stays that way). 👍🏻 I was doing some research and noticed that nobody did a video on the reservation system. Part of the reason is, there are so many people out there that we talk to that do not want other people knowing about all the ins and outs, in fear that they may not be able to make the reservations someday as more and more people figure out how to use the system to stay in one area longer. We don’t see it that way, anytime you have a high demand...companies find a way to give more product. We understand some campgrounds only have so much land, but there are always property acquisitions or the addition of more campsites for those places that do have extra land. THOUSAND TRAILS in Orlando is a perfect example. They have always been super busy in the winter time and finally just did a huge add on with a ton more sites. You also have to remember that there are people selling their memberships and getting out of this lifestyle for various reasons at the same time that there are people coming in. Hope that helps everyone understand a little better. These sort of things are always easier to remember to talk about “after“ I make a video. That’s what happens when I’m in a rush. Lol 😊

What about getting a reservation when you have a 60 day window? Likely to get a spot in winter in Arizona?
@LivinRVision2 жыл бұрын
The only 60 day window we have is with the Encore (Trails Collection) properties. We have not had any issues with that other than Florida in the winter, but we are still always able to reserve something. Thousand Trails is separate though.

@LivinRVision3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug! Well you did the right thing with contacting Kim, she’s great! Isn’t she just a wealth of information?! Our TT membership is a VIP. We were lucky to snag it as Kim says they are few and far to come by. The VIP doesn’t have High Use Restrictions like the other plans have. (well, I guess we have just 3 parks total that still have the restrictions...1 in PA and 2 in Oregon I think). However, the VIP plan only has a total of 60 parks, versus 81 with other plans. The 21 parks we don’t have are all along the East coast. We were fine with giving up that benefit in order to have NO high use restrictions because we knew we wanted to winter in either Palm Springs, CA or FL and both of those would have high use restrictions in winter. We also have the Trails Collection to get the Encore parks added on. Again, helps when wanting to stay in an area longer term and let’s you go back and forth between a TT Park and an Encore Park. We also have RPI. Honestly, we haven’t stayed at too many of those but we have it “just in case” there’s one to use when there isn’t a TT or Encore Park close by. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions! 🧡😁🤓

@LivinRVision Жыл бұрын
We do not but we can tell you that we did not find RPI to be of much use for us and we hear the same from others. For one, many of their parks are already in the Thousand Trails (TT) system (if you already have TT) and you can not use it to add a reservation at a Thousand Trails park just to extend your reservation at a specific park past your allowed time at that park through TT. So we ended up canceling our RPI membership.

Question on what day of the week do you find best to pull into a campground that has the most availablity? Sunday? Monday ? Tuesday? etc... especially TTO & Peace River? With Peace River, does the VIP/3 weeks in, no high restriction, help with getting a sewer site, ie, do you usually get one during your 3 weeks in? Loved this video (did not realize the campground Maps were on the site and also the loved the ones with Kimmie at Campground, we have talked to her & her Dad. Thank you again.

We typically only arrive on Sat or Sun due to our schedules, but it seems to vary from what we have seen and heard during the week. We have arrived on a Fri a couple times also. Sun is probably the best for us from what we experienced though. During the week May be better, like a Monday. With Peace River, it’s all based on first come first serve. We have always had a sewer site there. One time we got there in the morning and luckily made it soon enough to check in time, so that when they did the “lottery drawing” we ended up getting a sewer site. This only happens there during peak season.

I have two questions question number one. Is there a day of the week that is best to make reservations and have a moving day like for instance Monday Tuesday or Wednesday as opposed to Friday or Saturday? Question two is it easy or difficult to cancel reservations. Do I want to make reservations ahead of time while I'm waiting for my 60-day period to make encore reservations and then if I get them I could cancel my Thousand Trails reservations once I've booked the encore. Or can I not have an encore and Thousand Trails reservation at the same time? Thank you for your time
@LivinRVision2 жыл бұрын
We usually check in on a Fri, Sat or Sun because we try not to travel during the week due to our work schedules. So we have not noticed. It seems though, that it depends on the park and time of year. Some are busier than others. We have not experienced any issues with a day checking in. We have always made all reservations up as far as we can and then easily cancel if we need to change. You can cancel online or by phone. We have never been charged for cancellations.

Thanks! Every Thousand Trails membership has different “rules”, but you typically can go park to park with a Thousand Trails membership. I don’t think that is true with the Zone Pass but we’re not 100% sure. We are not familiar with the Zone Pass that Thousand Trails sells. Is that what you have? With our VIP membership, we book as many campgrounds as we can, up to that 120 days in advance and go park to park. With the Trails Collection (Encore), we can only book 60 days out in advance. Our TT annual membership expires in late May. This is our first year with TT. When should we renew? What is your recommendation?

You usually get a reminder in the mail when it gets close to your renewal date, so you have a few months before you need to pay your dues. 👍🏻😊🤓

Closed captions are not what you are saying.🙏

Sorry, KZbin does not do a very good job with closed captions and it is extremely time consuming to manually edit them along with everything else. We’ve had good feedback though that most get the gist of what is being said.

It certainly feels like it at first, BUT you can always just simply call direct to Thousand Trails reservations line and they will take care of making your reservations for you.

You could stay 21 days and then go to slab city for seven days

There’s a lot of options. We’re guessing you are meaning boondocking like at a WalMart parking lot?

😂 My daughter and I actually do boondock at Wal Marts from time to time. Whatever we need and is close, we are not proud. 😂
