Using the Tormek T8 with the axe jig

Using the Tormek T-8 Original Sharpening system fitted with the axe jig we sharpen a Robin Wood Carving Axe with a hollow grind.

Pardon me if this sounds ignorant, but won’t this give the edge a hollow grind?

Hi Allen, that is not ignorant at all, you are correct. At 30° inclusive the bevel is only minimal and functions very well as a carving axe bevel. A quick touch to a stone or similar will give you a flat over hollow if that is your preference. Another option if you have the Tormek Diamond Wheels you can finish off with flat grind on the side of the wheel using the MB-100 Multi Base that allows you to do this.

That too is the question I wanted to ask. But, thought it would have rendered a flat grind, whether sharpening edge leading or trailing. After sharpening several HATCHETS, I needed to use file and sand paper to create the convex bevel. Thanks for the video and comments. Much appreciated.
