The purpose of this tool is to hold the studs together long enough to get the sheetrock up. The sheetrock and sheetrock screws tie everything together and give the wall all of the rigidity it needs.

Up to what gage stud do these work. you should demonstrate this with a clamp so it shows the real process, has this attachment method been approved by engineers as a suitable alternative?

These system was used 20y ore more in Poland and rest of the Europe countries expect UK, when 16y ago move to UK and ask about this in the shops they have no idea what I talking about. Is quicker way to install drywall also is more stability because wood always working and metal stay same, so when attach plasterboard is very stability. Anyway on the video is show only U channel which one is used for around frame 72mm inside should be C channels 70mm.

These crimpers will crimp up to 0.8 gauge metal. Generally clamps aren't used for this application and you would have to check with your local authorities whether this system is approved in your area.

There is no close-up photo of before and after the crimping. I still don't know after watching this what a crimping tool does.

the tooth attached to the head of the crimper punches through both the stud and track, folding the punched portion over, “crimping” both pieces of steel together.

@@borealistv8681 from my understanding that’s the point of this tool which is to eliminate the use of screws, rivets etc

This would never pass a framing inspection. I like the concept but no inspector or engineer is going to pass that. BTW, that tool is for punching an 1/8th inch hole for pop rivets to secure the perimeter of an acoustic ceiling grid during installation.

That’s not correct. Firstly it depends on the jurisdiction, different locations have different regulations. These are widely used in Europe and Australia in commercial fitouts, and are approved. Secondly, it’s actually the wallboard and screws that provide the bracing, it’s very strong and used in 4 hour fire rated applications such as multiplex cinemas. Thirdly, this tool is not used to punch a hole for pop rivets, the track steel is punched through the stud and in effect becomes a hollow rivet.
