I use Thred-up for the same reasons (clear out stale inventory, and bins purchases that average $1/item). Using TU has helped me stop picking up brands that have no TU payout (if I can’t sell it on a platform (EBay/Posh) in a reasonable time frame, I know TU will take it). When the 7-day reclaim windows pop up on TU, I drop the price to $4.99 (lowest price), just to hopefully sell the items, and recoup any cents I can, instead of letting the item go~usually works…though it is painful to see .13 payouts. I send 30lb boxes to maximize the number of items and $15 TU cost. On average, each kit earns $60-150. I do not reclaim any items. On average each kit sent in has an initial cost of $30-40 (including buying good boxes). Great video ❤

Great video! I follow exactly the same path as you - including using that eligible brands list. Would love an update to any of those kits so you can show what sold, for how much and payout. $90 is excellent for a box. I've been averaging $50-60

Just another quick note- there are still partner kits out there. It doesn't show up with details on what's posted or sold in your ThredUp account, but they still issue you a gift card directly with a 15% bonus. They also don't charge the $14.99 fee (at least for GAP currently). Very hands off since you can't even see what's listed (or adjust prices) without contacting customer service but still a good option.

The consignment pro option is pretty great for higher ticket items! I sent in 40 retrofete dresses that I got from Boutique by the Box and, after a flat $15 fee/piece, I got 100% of the payout.

Ahh I have yet to try that! I haven’t had anything “high end” enough in my possession. But I will definitely keep it in mind if I end up getting some premium items.

I tried 3 labels or consignments. The processing time was over 2 months each time. I baled on Thredup. I found a local consignee to list my items. We split the profit. Much more profitable.

I always look forward to your videos-very helpful.I have a question.I bought the Helpsy premium labels-boutique brands and all the clothes have tiny barcodes stuck over the label! How do I get them off? They are stuck tight.

Those are put on there by Rent the Runway. I don’t know of a way to get them off. I just list them the way they are and disclose they are rental retirees

Thanks for all the great info. I’ve sent in about 3 kits over the past year. They recently reached out to me about their “Premium” kits that they’re starting. It’s a $35 charge and includes expedited processing, a longer window for your items to sell and a guarantee to list all eligible items. Also, they won’t discount your items by more than 20%. I printed my first Premium label but still have a few questions on how it works. Is it $35 for each kit and not dependent on the # of items in the kit? Is there a list of what they consider premium? I’m in the process of liquidating my items and don’t know if it’s better to send to TU or RR. The best thing about RR is they keep your items listed for a much longer time. I have a lot of high end items. I sent a Lafayette 148 wool coat into TU and my payout was $88. I had that coat listed on PM and Mercari for over 2 years and I couldn’t sell it for $25. I was shocked when it sold for that much on TU. Thanks again for providing us with all your helpful information and experience!

Oh I see, this is in the Consignment Premium section. They did for awhile where you paid a flat $15 fee and got 100% of the payout after that. They must be switching it up. I personally had a very bad experience with RR and I would never send to them again. They never did anything to make it right for me, they lost my entire lot of items and literally never fixed it or reimbursed me, after months and months of fighting them.

@@Ohyeahrachie I think I’m going to give the Premium a try. I’ve had a bad experience with RR too. I have some luxury items like AKRIS, Nili Lotan, Derek Lam, Veronica Beard, IRO, Marni, Pero, etc that have literally been sitting in my PM closet for months! I don’t even have things priced high. I sometimes think people feel more comfortable buying luxury from places like RR and TU instead of from sellers on PM. Thanks so much for your response!!

@@teresawhite9413are you sharing your items often ? I just watched someone else’s video where they talked about posher pro that’s shares their closet all the time. I guess it also depends on what you have listed in your closet. If you have tons of lower price items and just few higher end people generally won’t buy it from you. I just sold Adriana Goldsmith dress in XS I got from Thread up resque box for $159. I had it listed for $200 since it was a newer dress from Bloomingdale’s that sold out . Share your items manually couple of times a day if you don’t have Posher VA ( I think that’s what it’s called ). Hope this helps. You can also bundle and sell a reselling box to a seller in bulk. Hope that helps. I’m gone look into getting Posher Va myself since I mainly sell makeup and just breaking into reselling clothes.

Hi Rachel great video just curious say you get a Helpsy box and you sort through it and decide you aren’t going to list, what are those parameters that cause you to decide you aren’t going to list and instead maybe send to TU…. Item resale less than $20… I’m just trying to get an idea.

Great question! It really just depends on what I get. In a secondhand box, if it’s all one brand (like Madewell, for example) I will probably choose to send them basics like tanks, Tshirts, etc that aren’t worth my time to list individually. In a mixed brand box, it’s kind of the same but some dated styles or lower value brands (that are accepted) I usually don’t find are worth my time either. I got a plus size box and I kept all the Torrid and Lane Bryant and sent in the Woman Within. I hope that helps!

I did not. I didn’t pick up anything that visibly needed to be laundered or have a smell, so it didn’t seem necessary. As long as it looks and smells ok it really doesnt matter.
