Excellent. I'm caught up in this VFD stuff as well, Your build is inspiring. I built and Arduino VFD Clock and Voltmeter, so the new challenge is an I2C built up display, I'm starting with the TM1637 and a bunch of transistors. Add to that, an RS232 build Via AT89S52 using the MAX232. I know nothing about programming a 8051, I just have too many Soviet tubes and this is my solution. I could use some help.

I found VFD's quite cool, so your video (as featured on Hackaday) inspired me to get started. For ten euros I acquired a similar display from a cash register, including the serial cable and power supply, so less hacking required. Now I'm just waiting for the MAX232-RS232 board to arrive in the mail. My display is Epson compatible, so I think all I have to do is hook it up and use your code.
