I just love how this guy always does such professional looking products while still staying super easy to follow. I'd love to get that machine! I'm a mechanical engineering student and already have a 3d printer so this addition to my work space could give me a lot of new opportunities. Thanks for posting such amazing content

I swear this is the greatest infomercial for a vacuum forming machine ever. I've known about them but never knew how to integrate it into the workshop until watching this. Now I want one

Jesmonite is a lot cheaper than i imagined for 17 Kg's of the stuff. I think that's about enough for a pretty cheap desktop with really cool patterns

We don't know how strong it is. Even if you were to cast it with a metal support embedded inside, we don't know if the edges will crack and chip off with normal use.

@@danielch6662 I have seen jesmonite used as kitchen counter tops so i would guess that with enough support cracking and chipping wouldn't be an issue. I'm planning on making a desktop in the near future so will find out

Jesmonite is probably the most unique material I've ever heard of and seems alot cooler than resin to cast with!

I've always made vacuum form molds from MDF with the air holes having a large countersink on the underside to help with suction

This is such a creative way to use 3D printing for the initial molds and use vacuum forming to create those nice objects.

The sanding technique is super cool! Never heard of this stuff but you make me want to go out and buy a tub of it. Great content as always, you continuously inspire me. That vacuum former is sick too.

Have always been interested in vacuum forming but they have always generally been to big for the space I have available. Really cool that there is a Desktop version.

This is the first time I've seen a machine in a youtube video, where I'm actually planning to buy the machine. I've seen a lot of desktop vacuum forming machines, but they've all had some glaring issues, this is the first really well put together design I've seen.

Hi Alexandre, got to say i dont think i am in a position to make full use of a Vacuum Forming machine yet, but just seeing you work with one gives me so many ideas on what i would do with one. I love watching your videos and i just want to say that you have a unique ability to motivate and inspire. Just looking at some of the techniques you use i am truly jealous of your work space and your know-how, and you have a positive attitude mixed with a genuine joy for what you create! Love the colour penetration with Jesmonite. Darker seems to provide a stronger effect.

I definitely enjoyed it. I am going to be casting with resin instead, but I can use some of your color mixing and terrazzo techniques to make some nice soap dishes and rafts for my wife’s soapmaking biz. Great energy and presentation.

What a great video! The casting material you are using is a real game changer for brilliant colors and effects. I enjoyed your tips about not sanding PLA. Thanks for doing this. A vacuum former is something I had been looking at getting for a while, but could not justify the cost. Thanks!

I've always associated vacuum forming with making masks and cosplay items. Never thought about making molds. Amazing. That's a must have in any maker's shop.

Regarding the nut tray: if you wanna go through the process, you could try nonplanar slicing, which (as long as the top is shallow enough) prints the top surface as one layer crossing multiple layers. Like laying a new layer on top of the stairs trapped layers.

You can design multi part 3D printed tools with pick outs if you want to make undercuts or challenging geometry. Leave the cap layers at the bottom of the 3D printed tool open like the internal fill rather than modeling in vent holes.

I would be interested in a video about the limits of these awesome machines... like how tall the molds can be without the sheet ripping or how many small details can be transfered to the mold.

The black coaster looks awesome, to save time could you not put in the broken pieces in the vacuum formed piece first and then pour the black? Maybe leave air bubbles? :/

I’m also experimenting with poring smal parts and wanted to use silicone but this looks like a cheaper alternative in long term great video.

It looks so cool just to play with the form and colors! I had a blast making soaps with my daughter - I can’t even imagine what we could do with being able to make our own molds with such an ease :) Definitely going to try the Jesmonite.
