The divorce rate is so low there because the people in arranged marriages would rather stay with someone who they're not happy with so their families won't ostracize them. I grew up with an Indian family as neighbors, they had 3 kids, all 3 had arranged marriages, but their youngest son refused to go through with it. He was cut out of their family because he humiliated and embarrassed his parents and the girl's parents. Pretty sad. He ended up marrying an American and he's happy but he shouldn't have had to give up his family to find happiness.

Sumit (sp.) Is actually one of my favorite people on this show. I could tell from day 1 how much he really loves Jenny. People have been saying throughout the years "he doesn't really love her" then "he won't divorce his wife for her", "he won't go against his family for her" etc. etc. But he did all of that!! Jenny needs to try understand the culture. Being quiet is seen as a sign of respect. It's the same for some African cultures too. I think Jenny fails to see them as her elders so she feels they are supposed to see things her way. Yes the mom is cray cray but it truly isn't her place to confront them. As a wife, you do what you can to try impress your mother in law, lol try find out her favourite dish etc. That relationship is built overtime and its absolutely not guarenteed. She needs to chill, it's just how it is.

Given it seems he was disowned by family and is then an outcast his job abilities are severely limited as janitor, street sweeper, low level sanitation workers in India. And through show only she gets paid so when that gravy train runs out...who knows? Maybe why the drama is kept high hoping for an "I love Jenny" show? Yawn. I understand cost of living is low, but if you have no dough, high or low, won't matter. Neither are great life planners. The best part of their story was when Jenny was sick and wiped out from diarrhea and the mother was lk, "....so, I get diarrhea like 5x a day and don't have to rest". *Died laughing* (diarrhea 5x a day on the regular and she still fat? A mother's curse is the worst thing that can happen to any son/daughter when it comes to trying to live happily. It's what my MIL did with my husband and I, she wished ill on us and also said that she hopes we can bring her happiness when our first born child passes at birth (we don't have any kids as of yet btw). So far a lot of things haven't gone according to our plans and our situation could be better, but the love that my husband and I have for each other is what gets us through everything that's thrown at us. We have been no contact with her for over a year now and it's been quite peaceful on that part, but she still raises hell in her household. Hopefully she can one day get the help that she needs and can come to terms that her children are grown and make their own decisions. Same thing goes to Summit's mom👀
